Dr.'s Remedy Swatches and Review | Fall 2016/Winter2017

Good morning!

I'm excited to bring a new brand to the blog today!  Dr.'s Remedy is a doctor formulated vegan nail polish that was the first to receive approval from the American Podiatric Medical Association.  The polish is free from toluene, formaldehyde, and camphor and is instead enriched with organic ingredients like biotin, tea-tree oil, garlic bulb extract (don't worry, it doesn't smell like garlic!), and lavender.

The five cremes I chose to sample are so perfect for fall/winter and all had similar formulas so I'll just talk about that here: a tad bit runny (yet the formula is not thin by any means), I recommend starting with a very thin first coat and then using a thicker second to get the fuller, opaque coverage.  Once the first coat goes on, the second coat is less likely to pool into the cuticles since it sticks to the first coat.  I found that the first coat runs otherwise.

The finish on these cremes is super shiny and having worn both Mindful Mulberry and Balance Brick Red as full manis on two separate occasions, I can honestly say these polishes have nice staying power!  I got a good 4 days of wear before seeing any chips, which for me is pretty impressive since I chip super quickly.

Between the colors (which I love; see my descriptions below), the nice formula (once you learn to work with it, which isn't that difficult at all!), and the staying power, it's a lovefest with Dr.'s Remedy!

Mindful Mulberry
My favorite of the bunch, this medium mauve pink is absolutely a must have for right now!  Chic, feminine, and neutral, I never wanted to take this one off!

Motivating Mink
I have such a weakness for interesting taupey browns so Motivating Mink was really captivating to me.  A brown with a drop or two of purple, it was a refreshing neutral for winter.

Balance Brick Red
While this photographed a shade lighter than it actually is, in real life, this red is more of a light oxblood.  Depending on how many coats you use, you can really vary the shade of this red without compromising the finish; I've found that sometimes thinner reds like this require 3 coats otherwise they have that incomplete look (multiple uneven and bald spots) but this is more about tonality.  Very interesting for a red polish lover.

Stability Steel
If you love grey polish, Stability Steel is a fabulous addition to your collection.  The strong blue undertones gives it an almost teal look which would ordinarily make me not like it but because it remains sturdily grey, I still find myself loving it.  I can see this working well as a good transitional winter to spring shade.

Kinetic Khaki
Nudes are another "now" trend and this cool toned khaki color really made do a double take.  I have some many fleshy nudes, I loved how this more taupe-ish one stood out against my skintone.  I feel like I keep using the word refreshing in regards to this collection, but that's all I can think about with these shades.  Just a very unique take on en trend colors!
