Today, I have all 12 of the KBShimmer Fall 2016 polishes, an assortment of colors, finishes, and textures to suit your nail needs. To be honest, this collection feels more like an end of summer collection than a true fall collection to me, but I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Take a look.
Sage It Ain't So
Classic KBShimmer multi glitter crelly, this sage mint gave me serious lobster hands. Formula was a bit thin so I suggest multiple thin coats to get the right opacity and glitter ratio.
Worn over a white creme base, Sweet Devotion is another crelly glitter but with a bit of bar glitter thrown in. I feel like we've seen this type of polish a million times over at this point so while I know I'm the first to pass on a glitter I think I can also unbiasedly say this is a bit of a wash.
But now we're talking! Turning Pointe is like liquid sand, a holographic mix of pink, gold, green, and purple something that literally pours onto the nails and dries smooth! I really can't explain this. It's kinda magical.
Flake Me Home Tonight
To those that were won over by the Birthstone Collection, pick this one up as well. Ultra chrome-y, this aqua teal absolutely glowed on the nail. But, be forewarned: it leaves a lot of shimmery residue when removed.
Fright This Way
You can actually make out the Flake Me Home residue around my cuticles here (which I thought I got rid of until I saw these swatches downloaded...ugh). I was kinda disappointed in this polish. In the bottle, this looked so much more promising with the royal purple flakes floating in the black crelly base. But on the purple flakes just sank and really didn't show well in contrast to the black. Normally I love the KBShimmer Halloween additions and this one did not live up to expectations.
Tiers of Joy
This is what I mean but a classic end of summer collection polish. Doesn't Tiers of Joy look like sand? Super pretty, yes, but not quite fall. A gorgeous nude creme base with the perfect mix of micro glitter and holo specks, it's really a great neutral with a kick.
KBShimmer rocks the holo scene, but of course. Poppy Kisses is the ultimate seasonal red with that soft linear holo its known for. Formula was a bit weird with this one and it kept pooling in my nail beds. I had to swatch this 3 times to get it right which is VERY uncommon for me with a KBShimmer polish.
I have my fair share of purple holographic polishes but Orchidding Me? just took my breath away. I can't tell you exactly why but it just did. It's the same sort of linear holo as Poppy Kisses but maybe just the tonality of that purple that I really spoke to me. Who knows? But I loved this one to pieces!
Oh My Ganache
Basic brown holo but I love it nonetheless. I think I just love all brown polishes. Is that such a bad thing?
The Best Mum Ever
Now here's another disappointment from this collection. The color in this bottle is a rich periwinkle lavender with the most magical pink flakies. On the nail, the flakies basically disappear and the finish goes kinda dull (the shine you see is from the direct sunlight I shoot my photos in). I really thought this would be the lilac version of Suit the Breeze but alas, it wasn't. Bummer.
Little Boy Hue
Where KBShimmer did not disappoint is in its cremes which are always beyond reproach. This soft, greyed out cornflower blue is so lovely and a great transitional shade between summer and fall. A definite staple in any collection.
Grin and Gerbera It
It's a shame how bright this pink photographed because it's actually the perfect transitional pink. It's a muted, warm-toned rose with, as Imperfectly Painted beautifully put it, "a kiss of red" to it. I can see the mauve trend from last year moving into this shade of pink easily.
