JORD Fieldcrest Wood Watch Review

I was recently contacted by JORD Wood Watches to review one of their timepieces.  I selected the Fieldcrest model in black (found here).  Retailing for $120, the Fieldcrest is a standard midsize watch although on my smaller wrist it feels more like an oversized boyfriend watch.  The Fieldcrest is designed to be "androgynous, the attitude of the wearer is the final elemental design to this timepiece."  I completely agree -- and I'll explain why at the end of the post.

The JORD Fieldcrest arrived in, you guessed it, a wood box, cushioned on a herringbone pillow.  It was well insulated and the murkiness on the watch face in the above photo is due to the protective sticker still on the watch.

I ordered the Fieldcrest in black, which refers to the face color.  The monochromatic detail is in the wood graining, which you can see bleeds vertically in the face and less symmetrically throughout the bracelet graining.

One feature I don't love is the more modern face features.  The wood look has a nouveau vintage feel (if you know what I mean) and using glow in the dark looking ticks instead of numbers cheapens the look of the face.  Just not my thing personally.

The graining however is really quite lovely and something I was surprised by.  I was also surprised by how light the watch feels given how bulky it is on the wrist.  While it's not quite my style, I gave it to my boyfriend and it wore so nicely on him as a business casual watch -- something different yet statement-y.  Like JORD describes, "the attitude of the wearer is the final elemental design to this timepiece."
