Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by a Book

Growing up, my mother read me a lot of Shel Silverstein.  Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up.  I had and loved everyone of his books.  But my favorite and the one my mother used to tear up at as she reached the end of was always The Giving Tree.

One of the most beautiful books I have ever read, the simplicity of its message inspired my manicure for today's Twinsie Tuesday post.

The book is illustrated in black and white but the photo cover is that of only green and red.   Using all China Glaze polishes, I began with a base of Friends Forever, Right? from the Giver Collection on my ring finger.  I then sponged Shore Enuff, Be More Pacific, and This is Tree-mendous over it using Born Pretty Store round sponge stamp (which you can purchase here), which created a very subtle gradient effect, the glitter of Tree-mendous providing a textured, real life feel.  I then polished the rest of my nails with the beautifully rich emerald, Glittering Garland.  I used a heart sticker decal as a small accent.

It's not my favorite look or manicure, but I hope that I was able to capture what I could of Shel Silverstein's classic book cover.

If you're interested in purchasing the Born Pretty Store round sponge stamp, please click here.  They are available as a 5 piece set for $3.48 but you can use the code ANDG10 for 10% off.
