Sally Hansen Electric Summer Collection for Summer 2014

Sally Hansen has just released a fantastic collection of muted pastels for summer.  I love this fresh take on the season, where all we see are brights and neons.  Instead, I have eight dusty shades reminiscent of the sun setting on the beach and the ebbing of a summer day.

Take a look!

Kelp Yourself
A dusty mint?  Yes, please!  With just the right amount of grey in the base, Kelp Yourself is a fresh take on the average, chalkier pastel mint.  This could've been two coats, but I used three just to even everything out.

Wet Suit
A dusty sky blue, this creme was lovely, light, and delicate.  The formula was buttery but applied a bit unevenly so I needed three coats for this swatch.

You're Crabby
A crelly-leaning creme, I didn't anticipate to like You're Crabby on me.  A dusty mauve-ish pink, I thought the brown undertone might not really look great.  I was quite pleasantly surprised when the final result was a really feminine, warm-toned neutral pink.  Three coats here too.

Water Orchid
Do I even need to say that I love this?  A cool-toned lilac, this creme is so deliciously beautiful, I have no words.  A more mature Lacy Lilac, Water Orchid has a tad more grey in it which makes me absolutely adore this.  Three coats.

Teeny Bikini
I'm not crazy about yellow, but I do like a good buttercream.  Teeny bikini is a warm-toned soft yellow that oddly worked on me.  Not a terrible formula, this required three coats with a fourth for touch ups, which I can't say is particularly bad for a yellow.

Peach Babe
I haven't a clue why this is named Peach Babe other than the pun because this crelly is definitely pink.  Like most of this collection, Peach Babe has a dusty quality but nevertheless this cool-toned pink is still vibrant enough for a summer shade.  Three coats here too.

Pearl Up
The only true crelly of the collection, Pearl Up is an off white milky color that requires patience for proper application.  Given its jelliness and its tendency to pool towards the ends of your nail, I suggest waiting a few minute between coats to get the most level coverage.  This was three or four coats, I can't remember (sorry!).

Floaties
After Water Orchid, Floaties is definitely my next favorite of this collection.  A crelly dusty peach, this is the yummiest, prettiest, neutral I think I've ever tried!  I'm a sucker for peach and Floaties doesn't disappoint.  Plus, the formula was flawless.  This was three coats.

  1. My stash is lacking in the pastel department so I'll definitely be picking some of these up. They all look lovely!
