Nubar FALLing in Love Collection for Fall 2014

When the Fall 2014 press kit from Nubar arrived on my doorstep, I was excited to try this brand for the first time.  Here are my thoughts and swatches of the FALLing in Love Collection.

Sweet Hue
The odd one out in a collection of autumnal shades, Sweet Hue is a nearly-neon coral pink with a fair dusting of golden shimmer.  The application on this was fantastic and covered really nicely in 2 coats.

First Date
I'm not a huge fan of yellow so I wasn't super wowed by First Date.  A mustard shimmery creme, it applied thinly and watery (as did every color in this collection except Sweet Hue) so I had to use 4 really thin coats to get to this opacity.

Love American Style
A muted red jelly, Love American Style is pretty standard.  A bit darker than my picture allows, I can't say this is out of place in a fall collection.  Again, this was a thin, watery formula so it required 3 thin coats for this opacity.

Passion's Pain
A murky, brown-toned purple jelly, Passion's Pain was a real pain to apply.  Super watery and even after 3 coats, still left bald spots.  The color isn't something to write home about either.  Passion's Pain is a pass.

Don't Russet
Tonally browner than Love American Style, Don't Russet is richer creme that is considerably easier to apply than its lighter jelly sister.  From the bottle, you can make out a pink shimmer floating through the polish but once on, that shimmer absolutely disappears.  This was 2 or 3 coats (sorry for not remembering!)

A dusty medium-toned teal, I couldn't get behind this jelly.  On top of the unsurprisingly thin formula, I'm not crazy about how blah this color looks on me.  However, this didn't stain.  This was 3 coats.

I wish I liked teal more because Affair is something.  A jelly base, Affair is flushed with a stunning green microshimmer.  It's downfall is the staining it caused just from swatching.  This is 3 coats.

My favorite of the collection is without question Queen.  A royal violet-leaning purple semi-metallic, what makes Queen glow is the subtle blue shimmer running throughout.  While thin, Queen covered better and self-leveled nicely at 3 coats.
