China Glaze Off Shore Collection for Summer 2014

I'm a fan of China Glaze, I really am.  But I would be remiss if I didn't say that the Off Shore Collection for Summer 2014 didn't baffle me.  Individually, the colors are nice, but together, I just don't get it.  There's a lot of purply pink and yellowy green tones in this collection but neither scream summer to me.  That being said, I recommend evaluating the polishes separately to really appreciate if these crellies (and they all are 3 coat, slightly watery crellies) are up your alley this season.

(Apologies for my wonky middle nail.  I had a bad break and it's been growing back at an angle.  Had I straightened it with a file anymore I would've hit that painful part of the under nail and I wasn't really in the mood to handle that kind of pain.)

Shore Enuff
Very similar to Life is Lime Greener from the City Flourish Collection this spring, Shore Enuff is just a tad bit more green.  A non-neon slime green, Shore Enuff is one of the crellies that dried as a creme.  Not my favorite of the collection but green lovers will swoon.

Float On
Neon pepto pink?  Yes, please!  This photographed a half a shade lighter than this looks in real life but I'm pretty happy my camera didn't wash out the bright Barbie-esque glory of Float On.  Another crelly that dried as a creme.

X-Ta-Sea
I'm so on the fence about this, and not just because of the absolutely ridiculous spelling.  Uber watery, X-Ta-Sea built up somewhat unevenly, leaving much of the brown undertones to this purple very evident.  If you've followed me for awhile now, you'll know that unless a polish is supposed to be brown, I can't stomach brown undertoned anything on me.

Be More Pacific
I'm surprised to say this, but I actually really love this semi-neon lemony-lime crelly.  I've been itchy to try a number of polishes in this color family but haven't been able to locate them (I'm looking at you, NOPI Seize the Summer Collection), so I'm hoping this fills that void.  If you look at other swatches of this shade, I think it leans more green on most bloggers.  Not sure why this pulled so yellow on me but I'm not complaining.

Dune Our Thing
If only the formula was less watery I would hands down say Dune Our Thing is the winner of this collection.  The warm-toned fuchsia is just divine albeit not summery at all.  I also like that depending on how the light hits it, it can skew very bright or more autumnal.

Sun Upon My Skin
I can't believe I'm actually writing this but the yellow in this collection is my favorite.  Sun Upon My Skin is such a happy and bright buttercream!  Not too daffodil-y or too ecru, SUMS finds a beautiful medium between pastel and neon.  Win, win, win.

  4. It's painful when I hear it, I completely agree! Almost as bad as "aks" instead of "ask."

  6. Great colors! But I agree with you - how is this "Off The Shore"? With the name like that, you'd think you'd get blues and browns - ocean colors. regardless of the name, these colors are, indeed, beautiful.

  9. Be More Pacific (lulz) is the one that really caught my eye. Great colour, and it looks fantastic on you! The collection as a whole, though... China Glaze has been my favourite brand since the day I realized I even had a favourite brand, but it their last few collections have all kinda run together in my head without any real standouts. Between that and the lackluster comments about the formulas, it's making me kinda sad. :o(

  10. I'd have to agree. I'd rather they came out with fewer but more original collections than one every other week trying to keep up with the trends.
