China Glaze When Stars Collide

Behold, a purple-leaning burgundy with a weak linear holo.

Worth it?

I'm not so sure.

The application was standard China Glaze: easy to work with and smooth in two coats.  However, this polish is remarkably deceiving.  I fell in love with the color of When Stars Collide from multiple swatches but given how weak the holo appeared, I didn't think it was worth the $10ish places were charging for this collection.  However, when I found this on clearance at my local Sally's, I figured why not?  And off it came home with me.

In reality, the color is not as vibrant of a plummy maroon as it looks in my photo.  In fact, it dries rather muted and flat against my pale complexion which only really happens with very warm toned neutrals and pinks so I was perplexed at that.

But it's pretty to look at here, I think.  I can't highly recommend it but I also can't say it isn't a lovely autumnal color...in theory.  Thoughts?

  1. I'm with you on this batch of CG holos. There were some pretty colors in the bunch (this one included) but after all the hype surrounding them and the jacked up price point, I'd have to agree they weren't quite worth it. But this is a lovely shade of purple on you!

  2. I definitely didn't think these were worth their asking price and skipped the whole collection. From the great colour in the photo, I'd almost want to call this a textbook Amanda polish, but if getting it on clearance still isn't enough to make it work for you IRL, then it's probably a good thing I passed on these.

  3. since I don't own many holos I think this is pretty stellar but I don't know if I would pay $10 for it...Good deal picking it up on clearance.

  4. I'm with you, not worth $10. Honestly, not with the clearance price either.

  5. It's definitely not worth it for $10 and I agree, they're pretty unsatisfactory. I think I actually payed full price for the two that I have.

  8. It really does look pretty in this picture. I'm glad you got it on clearance :D The regular $10 seems pretty steep.

  9. Lol @ textbook Amanda polish. Yeah, I can totally see that but this is completely deceiving. Not worth it and you're smart to have passed on these.

  10. And it's sad because I know everyone was hoping for another OMG-esque collection from them.
