Twinsie Tuesday: Nail Care Routine

Today's Twinsie Tuesday is a bit different this week.  Instead of a swatch, we are sharing our nail care routine.  I thought instead of detailing how I file my nails with a basic emery, I'd rather share the three products that have consistently been my go-to items for all my basic nail needs.

My main issue is moisturizing my hands and cuticles, so my top three routinely used products are largely geared at helping prevent/heal that.

Up first, is Nivea Creme.

While not marketed at cuticle cream, this 99 cent tin is my absolute lifesaver.  I absolutely swear by it.  Thick and creamy, I massage this into my cuticles and let it seep in for a few minutes to really feed my thirsty nail beds.  The smell is also divine: fresh and clean.

Next is Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Body Cream in Eucalyptus Spearmint.

While vanilla-based scents are my favorites, the spicy sweet smell of eucalyptus is just unbelievably soothing.  I love a good, thick cream that really leaves my skin feeling like butter without being overly greasy and this cream fits the bill.  I really love using this right before bed, allowing the scent to ease me to sleep.

Lastly, we have Essie Protein Base Coat.

I picked this up on a whim when I saw it marked half off a few months back.  While I've always been fairly indifferent to base coats as long as they're 3 Free, I have been consistently wowed by this enriching base coat.  In addition to keeping my nails strong, it also has really increased my nail growth rate.  While my nails grow fast to begin with, I have been shocked at how often I now have to file.  It's a bit annoying as I like my nails short, but for those that have hard-to-grow nails, I highly recommend you pick this product up!

  1. How have I not heard about this Nivea creme? It looks so creamy and I definitely need something like this for when my hands and cuticles get really dry. And for a dollar? That is a steal! I'm going to pick one up next time I'm at the store.

  9. So, I went to CVS and couldn't find the Nivea creme in the tin, but I did find one that comes in a plastic container that is the same size and costs about the same. I bought it but I think I'm going to return it because I was able to find this one at my local Target. I tried it out right after getting home and I really love it! I like how thick and creamy it is and the smell is pretty nice too.
