Super Black Lacquers for Fall/Winter 2013

From the sleek and edgy Super Black Lacquers, I have four new polishes for fall/winter 2013 that I know will have you talking.  Let's start, shall we?

Spanked
A rich raspberry scattered holographic, Spanked is the perfect way to rock a "hot pink" during the colder months.  I really love that the holographic has flashes of cherry red in it, which grounds this fuchsia into more of an autumnal palette.  Fantastic color, fantastic coverage.  This was three coats.

Guilty
Now this polish is going to be divisive: you're either going to love this to pieces or hate this to bits.  Personally, I'm not a fan.  I am not a fan of yellow, especially those more green-toned, which this golden mustard definitely is.  The scattered holo is more present in Guilty than in Spanked but they applied identically well.  This is three coats.

Heather
Hello, gorgeous!  A medium purple scattered holographic?  Yes, please!  This grape polish has almost a metallic sheen to its finish which combined with the holo is a pretty cool effect.  It goes without saying that this is the winner in the quartet for me...but I have a weakness for purple.  Three coats here too, best application of the four.

3rd Degree
The only non-holographic polish, 3rd Degree is a bit more summer than fall to me.  A semi-metallic burnt orange (kinda pun intended), the polish is rich with golden yellow ribbons of fine shimmer.  Think of this as China Glaze Riveting's sleeker and younger European cousin.  Two coats for perfect coverage.

  1. I really like the pink and the purple, but I'm not crazy about the three coats thing :)

  2. Don't get too discouraged. I like my manis super opaque and always find myself doing a third coat for good measure.

  4. I hear you on the yellow and even the orange (since orange is very much a polarizing color as well). SBL is a relatively new company so I'd suggest you reach out to them and see what provisions they'll be making in the future (Natalie, SBL's creator, is an absolute doll and I'm sure will be able to answer any questions you have!). And thank you so much for your kind words about my blog!

  6. I really like Spanked and I "think" I may like Guilty. I would need to see it on a darker complexion.
