Salon Perfect Shocked, Jolt, and Kaboom

ends October 12th at midnight!

Hi, girlies.

So for my last white manicure of Black and White week, I wanted to bring you something special.  In theory this should've been the show stopper, however I'm new to the world of glitter and I'm now a recent sufferer of bleeding glitter.  Bleh.

Let me first say, though, that this mani was inspired by one I saw on Instagram when I first opened my account a few months back.  I can't for the life of me remember who created this so if anyone recognizes this, please let me know so I can update this post and give credit to the right person!

UPDATE: This mani was inspired by one done by Constantly Polished, a fab IGer that I highly recommend you follow!  Click here for her account.

I began with a base of Sephora by OPI White Hot, probably my second favorite white after My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  I then began layering my three Salon Perfect matte glitters over each nail.  I began with Kaboom, the green/blue Floam dupe, which looked very cool.  I then layered Jolt over that, and then the bleh kicked in.  Jolt is a mix of orange and yellow matte glitter which I've used before in a previous mani over a coral creme.  However, the yellowy orange apparently bled into the clear jelly base and dyed the white base with this icky, uneven yellow sludge when applied.  I finished with Shocked, the blue/pink matte combo, hoping there was some salvation there.  Sadly, the yellowy grossness remained, absolutely ruining this mani for me.

Here's a macro shot that clearly shows how the yellow bled into the white, giving this a toxic waste dump appeal.  I'm telling you, if I discover superpowers shortly, it's because this Hazmat-inducing mess was on my nails.  Bleh.

  2. If Jolt could have just sludge'd a little more evenly, this would have looked awesome, like rainbow candy sprinkles!

  4. I love the rainbow look! Shame about the bleeding though. It is just a bit TOO yellow, otherwise I think Elizabeth is right that with a slightly more even "sludging" this would look awesome! :)

  5. If the yellow had covered all of the white evenly then it would have been perfect. I love the colours and the way they look together.

  7. I never thought to layer these! think this look is pretty cool, but it is a shame about the bleeding glitter. I have three of these from the collection but I haven't tried them out yet.

  9. Definitely test them first to see about the bleeding, you don't want to ruin a perfectly good mani because of this type of sludgery.
