Twinsie Tuesday: Inspired by a Magazine Look

Happy Tuesday!

For today's Twinsie Tuesday, we are challenged to create a mani inspired by a magazine look.  Let me preface and say that I had three different ideas for this post.  The first one was just too time-intensive, the second required a makeup sponge which I was too lazy to go get in time, and the third, well, here it is.  And it randomly came to me at like 3am this morning.

My inspiration is the Nylon Magazine Young Hollywood Issue from May 2012, featuring Bella Heathcote, Zoe Kravitz, and Juno Temple.

I absolutely love Juno Temple's sheer and leather purple shirt dress in this cover shot, which reminded me of a mix of matte and creme polish.  So I whipped out Avon Violetta (a discontinued satiny purple matte), Kiko 293 (a lush purple creme), and some striping tape and randomly created lines across my index and ring fingers.

Simple yet effective.  I like how the geometric lines reference the leather pockets on the original dress, even if it's a pretty basic manicure.  For a last stitch mani done at 7am this morning, I'm pleased with my final result.

  6. Ooh I do like that - and purple is my favourite colours. I've never actually played with a matt polish - I like the combo of matt and gloss together like this!

  8. As a fellow purple lover, you should definitely try mattefying a purple shimmer, it'll blow your mind. And this was my first time mixing matte with shiny so I'm also surprised at how it looks!
