Sephora by OPI Looks Like Rain, Dear and OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls

Welcome to Day 1 of Black and White Week, a self-proclaimed challenge that I've decided to undertake this week in order to force myself to get certain manis on the blog that I've been meaning to do for ages.

Today, I begin with white.  In fact, I began with the white, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (one of maybe two or three polishes that I actually have a back up to).  I love the slightly blue-tone to this white creme that produces a super cool (tonally and figuratively) effect and knew I wanted to wear it for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year.

But like any good new year celebrant, I want a bit of glitz to celebrate the occasion.  So I chose to accent with Sephora by OPI Looks Like Rain, Dear which I recently picked up in the amazing Sephora by OPI clearance sale.  While my picture makes this looks like a gold microglitter interspersed with silver pieces, it's in fact a scattered holo that produces a really pretty rainbow effect when hit by natural light.  Sadly, lightbox and camera light didn't do the trick.

Nevertheless, I think this is a really clean yet chic way to wear white and gold without looking tacky (although my mother thought it looked trashy, she hates the whole accent nail look and was very vocal about it, which I thought was funny).  But for those who do enjoy a little accenting, would you wear this mani?  And what would you wear it with?  Tell me in the comments below!

  1. Love the combo. Accent nails tacky!? No way.

  2. Lol, my mom is very old fashioned with nail related things. She basically sticks to navy, black, grey, and occasionally red nails.

  5. I love it! I also love how opinionated people get about what is or isn't "tacky" on other people. I once heard a woman in the drugstore ask her male partner what he thought of glittery nail polish (she was clearly considering it) and he launched into a lengthy speech about how nudes and pinks are the only non-tacky options if you are over 7 years old and want to be taken seriously. LOL. Hearing that made me even more determined to wear crazy nail polish to work.

  6. I never thought I would love a white polish like I love MBSW. Amazeballs. Love it with the gold!

  7. I will continue to shout it--OPI needs to make MBSW core, like, immediately. It is such a perfect white! And that Sephora gold is just...it's just totally wow. I love it as an accent too!

  8. Haha! I completely understand. I've gotten that green nails aren't work appropriate but I think that it's all about finding the right one.

  9. Amazeballs is right. There's no comparison to MBSW.

  10. I totally agree about making it core, there is no reason for it to be LE given it's popularity.
