Jessica Cosmetics A Night at the Opera for Fall 2013

Inspired by her love of opera, Jessica Vartoughian, founder of Jessica Cosmetics, created a sextet of rich autumnal shades to celebrate the "passion...twists and turns" of the opera.

All polishes required two coats for opacity and applied nicely and evenly.

Opening Night
Let's start with a bang, shall we?  Opening Night is definitely my favorite of the collection, a fuchsia jewel tone semi-metallic.  Even showing off a plum duochrome, the glow comes from the electric blue shimmer sparkling throughout.  Magical and dramatic, perfect to begin an operatic collection!

Overture
Another semi-metallic duochrome, Overture is somewhat less dramatic than Opening Night.  While in the bottle Overture has more of red-tone, on the nail, it appears more of a burnt orange with coppery bronze shimmer.  Quintessentially autumnal.

Prima Donna
My runner up for favorite, Prima Donna photographs slightly more blue than it appears in real life.  On the nail, I'd classify this as more violet purple with a very present blue duochrome shimmer shift.  Also semi-metallic, I think this is a very chic and regal shade.

Blue Aria
One of the two cremes of the collection, Blue Aria is a murky, deep navy.  Not particularly unique, but really creamy and smooth.  I love shades like this for fall and winter.

Standing Ovation
Another semi-metallic duochrome, Standing Ovation is another glowy jewel tone, shifting from olive to evergreen with blackened ends.  There's even a tiny bit of gold in the base that really adds something special here.  Not normally my type of shade, I'm pretty impressed with how much punch this polish packs.

Velvet & Pearls
A standard black creme, I can see how Velvet & Pearls fits into the collection, but it's not something to necessarily write home about.  Application was meh/okay, so if you have another black creme that you love, there's really no need for this one.
