Twinsie Tuesday: 4th of July Inspired (à la OPI)

Due to my move, my nail polish is still straddled across two boroughs.  Since I organize my polish by brand, and those that have traveled over to Manhattan with me are still largely packed in boxes, access to most of my polish is limited.  However, my OPIs are fairly accessible and in the process of planning my Fourth of July Inspired mani for Twinsie Tuesday, I discovered I own a helluva lot of red and silvery OPIs.

I collected seven I thought I could play with and as good American soldiers, lined them up in formation:

Tomorrow Never Dies, The Spy Who loved Me, Pirouette My Whistle, Designer...De Better!, My Paprika is Hotter than Yours, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, My Boyfriend Scales Walls
With the big guns in hand, I attempted...well, Lord knows what I attempted.  Here's my result.

I suppose you could call this a skittlette.  I'm actually really quite fond of every nail but the middle; while my half moon of OHMSS came out smoothly, the beautiful silvery blue microglitter was too close a match to the violet TND base and disappeared a bit.

And then there was me thinking I could double half moon with TSWLM on the top of my nail.  Oy,  was that a mess.  I couldn't figure out how to make that line cleaner, so while the colors look nice and patriotic together, the ruby OPI beauty just looks like bleeding jam on my nail.  Eh, food is pretty American, right?

For what I imagine are infinitely lovelier American tributes, please check out my Twinsies' links below.

  2. Your descriptions...lol! Nothing more American than food! In that one picture you have more OPIs than I own all together. They have horrible wear on my nails.

  3. I'm glad you appreciate my Americanism, lol. And yeah, I have a lot of OPIs since my mother wore that brand since before I can even remember. Shame that they don't wear well on you! Maybe try their specific base coat??
