Julie G. Blueberry Fizz

With texture polish all the rage, I bit the bullet and ordered the entire Julie G. Frosted Gumdrops collection when it went on sale on Groupon.  While not sure why, since I've been ambivalent about the trend, I found myself compelled to buy them all, knowing that there were a bunch of ladies who would appreciate them if I couldn't.

Well you could knock me over with a feather -- I actually really loved Blueberry Fizz!  A sky blue matte glitz textured polish, the diamond encrusted feel to this beautiful polish kept me staring at my nails for hours.  The application was phenomenally smooth and even given the textured nature and was perfect in two coats.

But here's the rub: I hated wearing it.  The actual physical aspect of wearing it.  I put this on a few hours before I went to sleep and found it impossible to actually fall asleep.  I hated the feeling of this polish rubbing against my pillow case and covers and even worse against my face.  I was so conflicted but I was forced to take it off.  This is a polish best worn during the day when you don't require that much direct contact with fabric, your own skin, or human life in general.  That may sound a bit dramatic -- okay, it is a bit dramatic -- but it's the unfortunate truth behind textured polish.

But I still have five or six more of these to try, and try I will.  How can I not, when the final product is just so gorgeous?  Sigh...

  2. The Groupon was a really good deal. I really hope they do more of those in the future!

  3. It looks gorgeous, I haven't tried any of the textured polishes because I really don't like any texture at all on my nails but they do look really pretty!

  4. Yeah, it is certainly difficult to get used to but it's pretty to look at!

  6. It's definite a winner for those who like understated glitz ;)

  7. That is gorgeous! My biggest complaint with the texture is how it feels on the free edge of the nail...too scratchy for me.

  8. Oddly enough, that wasn't the biggest deal for me. It was more the fully exposed side.

  13. Let me know if you have difficulty finding it...I don't think there are Rite Aids in Florida.

  14. Nope, no Rite Aids here at all. :( Let me know if you come across it. No big deal though, it's not like I NEED another polish right. ;)

  17. This color looks great on you! I bought the orangey red one of these. The texture also bothered me, so I put 2 coats of Seche Vite on it in order to smooth it out. The color became a little more vibrant but the sparkle remained the same. I like it all in all, but then it all peeled off the very next day! So bummed.

  18. Such a shame that it peeled so quickly! Maybe it was the topcoat?

  19. Of all the textured polishes, Julie G. really did them the best.

  20. It's possible. But then I'm stuck not liking the texture, like you. :(

  21. I really want the teal one! This looks so great on you. The texture part does take a little getting used to.
