Twinsie Tuesday: Polish Chosen by Someone Else

I initially thought that this week's TT theme was too easy: polish chosen by someone else.  After so many weeks of painful nail art challenges, I was waiting for the catch.  But no, looking back at our Twinsie Tuesday schedule, there were no caveat's to this post of having someone else choose my polish for me.  Easy enough.

So while on the phone with my best friend last week, I tangentially asked her to scroll through my stash list and randomly choose any polish or polishes for me to swatch.  As we continued talking, she silently scrolled on her end of the phone, until she started laughing.  "You have a Fancy Pants and a Miss Fancy Pants?  You have to do those!"  I sent her bottle shots so she could confirm her response but she didn't think that the greige nude Essie would look well as an accent nail with shimmery periwinkle of the China Glaze.  Have no fear, I assured her, I will use the Essie to make a heart on my accent nail.  Easy enough.

I began with two glorious coats of blurple fabulosity, the blue-to-pink shimmer playing hide and seek in the light.  After it dried, I whipped out my dotting tools that I had only recently started to use.  Out came Essie Miss Fancy Pants and I began furiously trying to dot my way to a coherent heart.  Unfortunately, as I learned that day, dotting tools cannot replace actual brushes when attempting to do basic nail art.  A lesson learned not so easy enough.

So there you have it: a congealed shapeless blob setting itself on my ring finger.  But at least the periwinkle makes for a beautiful canvas.

Make sure to check out my Twinsies' posts today also!

  1. Love the color combo!! Fancy Pants is gorgeous!!!! Hearts are possible with dotting tools. It just takes practice ;0).

  2. I get frustrated easily so practice doesn't always help :/

  3. I love the two colors together! I find dotting tools soooo hard to work with, I can't even make polka dots round!

  4. Lol! I'd never think you'd have an issue with tools, your manis are always so steady and perfect!

  5. Fancy Pants is so pretty! Gorgeous periwinkle, and I just love that shimmer. And don't be so hard on yourself, really! The shape of your heart is great, it's just the coverage that's uneven, and I have the exact same problem when I try to do big shapes with my dotting tools. Smaller dots and shapes are a lot easier for me.

  7. Fancy Pants is gorgeous! I love it. I have yet to do any nail art of any sort, so my heart probably would have come out a lot worse, so don't beat yourself up!

  8. Thanks, but I think I need to get an acrylic brush for things like these. I actually have a very steady hand and dotting doesn't really need steadiness, but drawing shapes does.

  9. Thanks, Melissa! It's just a skill I seriously lack.
