To be frank, I struggled with this week's challenge. Polish Roulette, as was explained to me, was randomly choosing polish from your stash and seeing how they go together. But as I began to randomly choose polish from my stash (by literally scrolling up and down with my eyes closed, choosing whatever polish my cursor was closest to), I realized most of my stash is opaque and couldn't possibly roll well together.
Then I attempted to do a sponged gradient using the polish that was on my nightstand with the polish that was on my nails (randomly roulette-y, right?). I can't even begin to describe how devastating that attempt was. No words, ladies, no words.
So I was stuck without an adequate TT mani. And then a lightbulb went off in my head. If I was actually playing roulette, I would totally bet on red. I have red polish! In fact, I have a beautiful red polish most befitting for Avon week, Ruby Slipper. Two birds, one stone.
Cheating the system aside, Ruby Slipper is somewhat different from the multitude of other red jellies that share its name (although, most are typically "slippers" not "slipper"). Instead of bright red glitter mixed in the base, Ruby Slipper is flushed with silver shimmery micro glitter. In the bottle, as you can see in the swatch below, the silver is very prominent against the red. However, on the nail, the effect is more subtle, leaving a highly reflective shimmery quality to the polish. As much as I adore my other Dorothy-inspired polishes, there's something really youthful and slightly unique about this.
3 perfect coats used here.

| Sorry for the white edging at the bottom of this swatch! Guess I wasn't fully utilizing my light box. |
Isn't that shimmer just amazing? And depending on how deep it sits within the jelly, it appears multitonal (more silver towards the top, pinker towards the bottom where there are more layers of red covering it). And the squishiness! Red jellies are my favorites so I'm not surprised at how giddy I get looking at this! Betting on red completely worked in my favor.
Okay, so technically, no, this doesn't constitute polish roulette, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get through her TT post. Believe me, be grateful I didn't show you the monstrosity of a mani I sponged earlier. I shudder even thinking back on that.
