So I know I missed Twinsie Tuesday yesterday, but I have one good reason and one not so good reason:
1. My fiance and I signed the contract for our first apartment together. This weekend has been a whirlwind of real estate and square footage, so I didn't have much time or energy to have the boy sit down and do my nails. (To clarify, that was the good reason.)
2. I had a terrible case of smurf fingers the entire weekend. I swatched a really pretty dark teal polish that upon removal, not only turned my fingers a dingy blue, but stained my actual nails something awful. I rubbed my fingers with whitening toothpaste, then actual whitening paste, and exfoliated like crazy, but I still looked like a coal miner by Sunday night. Not quite swatch-ready hands. (To clarify, that was the not so good reason.)
Now that my fingers have returned to their normal vampiric state and plan to have some time with the boy after work tomorrow, I hope to have my TT post up later this week.
Anyways, that being said, I have a beautiful new polish that I bought and wore on a whim last week. One of my favorite mainstream brands, Orly, took me aback with their Hope and Freedom Spring 2013 collection. When I saw the first swatches, I thought the collection was odd, disjointed, and tired. Nothing new, nothing cohesive, nothing special.
But then I saw the colors in the store.
Oh my goodness, these are some really pretty colors in person. The first I grabbed was High on Hope, an absolutely stunning muted navy creme flushed with golden purple shimmer. When the light hits, this baby glows. I tried to capture that as best as I could, and you can sort of make it out in the bottle, but please trust me when I say this is even more spectacular in person.
This was 3 buttery coats.

Sigh. I go gaga for shades like this. While I still find the Orly Spring collection bizarrely organized, individually these polishes are standout stunners. I still find it odd that Orly keeps putting out spring and summer collections with random navy/dark blue shimmers (remember After Party from Summer 2012?), I'm enjoying these in the cooler months nonetheless.

ReplyDeleteI love some of the colors from this collection but the new Orly bottles are so fugly, I simply cannot buy them. Sad, but true, lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the new writing, it's not as nice as the old bottles, but as much as I disliked them from initial pics, in person, they're not as bad since the bottle and wand shape are still the same.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty shade!
