As it does every year, Pantone chooses a color of year. I haven't the faintest what goes into that decision and who exactly these Pantone people are and what their training is that empowers them to make that decision, but what have you. And 2013 ladies has been designed for emerald.
I'm a fan of jewel tones, but often find they're season specific (late fall, early winter) and bore me if I wear them too often. When looking over my stash, I realized I own a surprisingly high number of emerald toned polishes. Since this green is probably going to popping up a lot this year, I thought it might be good to start whipping them out for you guys.
Here we have Pure Ice Not Now, a rich hunter green jewel tone polish. While the formula feels thin, the blackened edges and multitonal green spectrum makes this polish interesting. There's something almost sexy about this emerald and I can totally see this offsetting an LBD very nicely.
This is 2 coats.
Despite the thin formula, the application was standard Pure Ice: consistently good. If you're looking to put your toe in the emerald water for 2013, I highly recommend checking Not Now out. For $1.97, you really can't go wrong.

Beautiful! But I ignore Pantone color of the year, I can't stick with one color all year!
ReplyDeleteI like it as a guide, but I'm with you: too much of one color for twelve months is not for me.
ReplyDeleteI was not thrilled about Tangerine Tango for last year but Im pretty pumped for Emerald this year. Mmmmm greens! This is a lovely green!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I was more excited for the orange last year because it was so different. While I like emerald, there's only so far it can go. That being said, I like this polish too!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeletei love emerald polishes too but i dont have anything like this! ill have to check it out!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like it!
ReplyDeletePretty polish. I love greens and have a drawer full of green polishes so I am going to go Green Crazy while green is "in". I love Pure Ice and for less than $2 I can afford to get a bunch of them. I love this color though and don't have it yet.
ReplyDeleteLol, perfect time to whip out those beauties in your drawer...and add to them affordably ;)
ReplyDeleteSuper gorgeous on you Amanda! I'm looking forward to getting in the green groove!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what greens you pick up!
ReplyDeletePretty polish, Amanda! It reminds me a bit of Illamasqua Viridian (only much, much less expensive!). I'm not personally that into jewel tones, so "emerald" doesn't really thrill me as a colour of the year. I love all kinds of greens, but emerald seems a bit safe after last year's tangerine. ;)
ReplyDeletePS: LBD?
Beautiful :) I like this year's choice hehe
ReplyDeleteUm, yes please! I need to find a color like that!
ReplyDeleteLittle black dress, darling.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteAw, duh! >_<
ReplyDeleteThis is such a you color!
ReplyDeletedon't worry, I was stumped for a minute too
ReplyDeleteI have a few emerald greens in my collection. I don't wear them often but they're there.
ReplyDeleteWhip 'em out!!!
