Nail Rock Nail Wraps for Valentine's Day

I've always been intrigued by nail wraps.  They seem like such a convenient way to get a festive manicure without all the time and effort involved in nail art.  So when I received the new Nail Rock Nail Wraps designed for Valentine's Day, I was pretty excited to try these again after my first attempt did not go so well

Unfortunately, the formula on these only got worse.

First of all, the wraps have an almost fabric-y feel which makes them (1) less adhesive to the nail, (2) less malleable to the contours of the nail, and (3) difficult to file down to a smooth finish.  Here's a close up of one nail that highlights all the above issues.

Now in case you're wondering if that's just the bad luck of my first nail, here's the second.  Equally bad.

I want to be totally honest and say that I actually could not finish the rest of my hand with these wraps.  Since they did not adhere to my nails (despite the fact that I followed the directions to a T by cleaning and buffing my nails) and the tips poked and stuck at me awkwardly, I was unable to finish this mani.  The wrapper on these states that they can last up to 10 days.  Two nails could not last two minutes.

I hate being so hard on a product that really looks great, but I can in no way endorse these wraps until they make them more adaptable to the contours of the nail.  For the meantime, these are a pass in my book.

Nail Rock Nail Wraps retail for about $8 and can be purchased from their site online or at various beauty retailers.

  1. Eww, those really didn't work out did they? They look like cloth and you can see the wrinkles as they don't conform to your nails at all. Wraps shouldn't be that hard to apply, and being your second try, I'd say it was just a poor product. Thanks for the honest review.

  2. looks like an awful product. they look waaaaay too thick - like vinyl upholstery!! how could these ever work for anyone??

  3. Was there a plastic coating on the front that kept them from lying flat? I've used some wraps that had that and I'd forgotten to take it off and had a mess after that. Too bad these didn't work out. They would have been kinda cute.

  4. That sucks because they look cute. I prefer the SH nail wraps just because they stretch and conform to your nail.

  5. Too bad about the weird texture and application. The designs look really cute but if they won't go on right, then that's that.

  6. I am not a nail wrap fan, I have tried them and had some of the same issues you did. I think I will stick to my Sally hansen nail strips and similar brands! The designon them is cute though.

  10. I hate being so harsh on a product, but these are not something I'd recommend ever. Maybe I'm just inept at using them, but even still, if I can't make them work well, I'm sure a lot of other girls can't either.

  12. Nope, no special coating whatsoever. And yeah, it is a shame because I liked this print too!

  13. I've never used the SH ones so I can't comment, but from what I hear, people really like them!

  14. It's funny because when I think nail strips, I always think of you and the Sally ones and how you make them work so well. I felt so dumb when I couldn't get these to work.

  16. I really hate nail wraps, I've used a couple different brands and they pretty much always end up looking like this. even the better ones that flatten better just don't seem to stick.

  17. I've tried nail wraps once before and they just don't agree with my nails at all. It's a shame that those didn't work out. They are kinda cute.
