I am a huge fan of red polish. I think finding the right shade is key to completing any budding lacquerhead's collection and is the quintessential classic mani. Feminine and clean, a red mani dresses up any outfit.
So when it came to choosing a red manicure for today's Twinsie Tuesday post, I was completely overwhelmed. I lined up about twelve of my red polishes on my vanity, hoping one would call out to me as the polish for this post. In the interim, I decided to wear NOPI Kourt is Red-y for a Pedi, a gift from a Secret Santa. A bright cherry jelly, the NOPI applied smoothly and was semi-opaque in three coats.
As Tuesday approached, I had yet to pick out the right red for the TT post. Simply using the NOPI seemed a bit of a cop out, so I decided to layer Pure Ice Twist and Shout over it, hoping for the best. Surprisingly, I really loved this glitter! An otherwise, sheer red jelly packed with ruby red shimmer, I hadn't expected to love the larger blue and red hex glitter interspersed in the shimmer. However, Twist and Shout applies evenly and sparingly, leaving a pretty cool mani that would probably be better suited for July 4.
While not my classic red mani, I still really like this combination. What do you think, ladies?

I like this combo! I think it would work as something for Fourth of July, as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarah! Maybe over white for Independence Day?
ReplyDeleteTotally digging this! You ALWAYS find great Pure Ice Polishes!
ReplyDeleteOOOH! This looks like another Pure Ice/Julep dupe (Julep America to be exact). Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm a big fan of Pure Ice :)
ReplyDeleteI'm finding that there are a lot of Pure Ice and Julep dupes, especially the mattes and glitters. Pure Ice is like a seventh of the price though, so I'll keep using my Pure Ices ;)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty Amanda!!! Love this mani!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteI really like this combo! SO pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jamie!!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Such a cheerful, tomato shade of red, and the glitter works so well with it. Love the highlights of blue!
ReplyDeleteYep, I totally agree! Once I started realizing that there were MANY dupes (the O'Canada glitter by Julep is also Pure Ice Sugar Cookie) I totally cut back on my Juleps...obviously they use the same manufacturer and not only is Pure Ice's price better, so is the bottle shape! I need to get me some Pure Ice asap. Can you believe that I don't own any yet? I have an ongoing list of which ones I want though!
ReplyDeleteThis is a mani I can see you rocking...and then somehow making a work of art. Taking off, and then making even workier of artier :P
ReplyDeleteOoh, let me know what your wish list of Pure Ice ends of consisting of. I have a ton and I'm sure I can send a bunch your way :)
ReplyDeleteAw! Thank you, Amanda! Actually I can see me thinking, "Ooh, what can I do to fancy this up even more?!" Then I'd go too far with it and think, "Dangit, it looked so cute before I messed with it..." :P
ReplyDeleteYou "loved" this glitter!? What!? I'm so proud of you :) This is super pretty, kind of reminds me of Broncos colors. I think Tara will like this one!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the pops of blue glitters!
ReplyDeleteThis is very pretty!! :D
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I made you proud with my liking this glitter :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Me too!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ash!
ReplyDeleteUmmmmmm, you blew me away by adding that glitter! At one point you would have loved to just do a plain red mani! Gorgeous gorgeous, love the combo. And I so badly need to pick up Kourt is ready for a pedi. I love the Kardashians and I'm not afraid to say it!
ReplyDeletecheck you out with the glitter! Love it. You need more glitter in your life.
ReplyDeleteLol, Anne!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, let's not carried away. That's like what? My third glitter that I actually like?
ReplyDeleteThis combo is amazing! I am so surprised to see you glitter this up, but in a good way! Yay for glitter!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, this is beautiful!!!! This is just the right amount of glitter! It's not overwhelming, but still good sparkle! Now it just needs a matte topcoat ;)
ReplyDeleteLol. You would go matte top coat crazy with this!
ReplyDeleteOoh great polish choices! Love the pure ice :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Traci!
ReplyDeleteI think these two go fantastically together! Beautiful choices!
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you ;)
