Happy New Year!
An appropriate idea for a Twinsie Tuesday post, no? So for today's challenge, we each have to create a new year inspired mani.
I didn't really stretch myself here, but I saw Orly Goth sitting on my vanity and thought that it would be a great polish for New Year: a deep black creme flushed with silver flecks of microglitter, Goth reminded me of midnight, the moment it becomes the new year.
While Orly Goth is absolutely stunning in the bottle, rich with heavy silver shimmer, on the nail, that mostly disappears. Instead, the remaining mani is black with random and sparse flecks which is considerably disappointing.
Nevertheless, this Orly was a breeze to apply, thick and viscous and just buttery perfection. This is 2 coats.

Is Orly Goth a necessary polish in your black arsenal? Probably not. But as a New Year's mani, it serves its purpose.

I love the idea behind this, Amanda, the moment at midnight. How perfect! I really like this polish too. Shame the shimmer is sort of shy, but it still shows nicely, lending some depth and just a little sparkle to the black. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've always read mixed reviews on this, yet everytime I see it in a store I wonder if I am missing out! I think it looks fab on you, but it's good to know that it was disappointing...that saves me $$ :) happy new year Amanda!
ReplyDeleteLooks great on you!! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeleteHahahha, I love the "probably not," XD! This is really beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year!!!
This is great for NYE!! Happy New Year, girl!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of this theme with the moment at midnight. Very cool idea and Goth embodies it so well! I have picked up (and subsequently put down, for one reason or another) Goth in the store more times than I can count!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful polish! Happy New Year!!
ReplyDeletegorgeous polish! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteOoh, love this on you. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI love how you found the positive in such a lacking shimmer. But I have to agree that there is something deep about just a hint of sparkle ;)
ReplyDeleteLol! My pleasure in saving you some moolah. As much as I adore Orly, their formula, their size, and everything, I'd recommend passing if you can get the even more sparkly Sinful Colors Secret Admirer. For $2, totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year, Traci!
ReplyDeleteI'll repeat what I said before to Maribeth: it's not worth it if you can get your hands on SC Secret Admirer. The shimmer is way more present and applies just as beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne! Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteLove this! New Year definitely reminds me of really dark or really light, so I'm glad you went with dark! Hope you had a great new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, girly!
ReplyDeleteEven with the hidden shimmer this is still gorgeous. Happy New Year!!
