Pure Ice Touch Me Softly

Pure Ice is really banging out the new shades lately!

While I'm not a fan of matte polish, I adore how the texture comes alive under a top coat.  Touch Me Softly, from their most recent suede line, is a purple-leaning fuchsia matte that sparkles with silver shimmer.  Without a topper, the purple falls flat and in fact, the silver shimmer takes away from how lush the actual color of the polish is.  Once top coated, Touch Me Softly appears like a glossy velvet (if that makes sense), rich, smooth, and divine.

The application was not amazing like the Pure Ice cremes I've used before.  The matte formula can be gloopy and unless applied evenly in one go, Touch Me Softly dries bumpy and wonky, which a top coat only somewhat is able to mask.

This is two or three coats (I can't remember exactly how many I used).  I do know that opacity was not an issue here, just a matter of getting the mani smooth in one brushstroke, which I only mildly succeeded in doing.

Regardless of the formula, I really just adore this shade of fuchsia and how it wore against my skin tone.  However, the wear on this was not great and chipped in big pieces within a day of application.  I'm not surprised though since mattes are notorious for chipping easily and top coats often just exacerbate that.  But for $1.97 a pop, I'm not shedding too many tears.

You can purchase Pure Ice from the Bari Cosmetics website or at Walmart stores nationwide.

  3. I have such a hard time with matte formulas, but you're so right--they really do dazzle with a nice top coat on. You really do wear this one beautifully too. The purple is gorgeous with your skin tone!

  4. You made me feel less crazy! I *always* prefer matte with a topcoat and can't understand the love and adoration for it without. And thank you! I really love this color so much I ordered Zoya Carly thinking that it might look like this without the matte formula...we shall see...

  5. Haha! I do love me a good matte/suede finish, but a top coat really does show off the textured ones so beautifully. Good luck with Carly!
