Étoile Mauvelous New Year Collection: Swatches and Review

The holidays may be over, but who says the sparkle of the season has to fade? Make your New Year mauvelous with two variations on one stunning shade: Midnight Kiss is a soft cozy mauve and Winter Dusk is a darker, brownish mauve, both infused with our signature ingredient - genuine diamond dust.

Part of one of the reasons I really love étoile is the story behind this New York-based company, which you can read here.  Erin, étoile's creator, and her fiance, who is also her business partner, developed a brand of polish that combines aspects of Paris (where they met) and weddings, producing high quality colors infused with real diamond dust (it's even listed in the ingredients!)

Midnight Kiss
A pink-based nude, or a very, very pale mauve, Midnight Kiss is the ultimate neutral.  It applies like butter and shimmers and shines like the moon.  My favorite of the Mauvelous set.  This was 2 perfect coats.

Winter Dusk
A brown-based purple mauve, Winter Dusk is raisin color to my eye.  The diamond shimmer leaves this autumnal color with a dusty feel, which I personally love.  Again, perfect formula and applied easily in 2 coats.

While these polishes are on the pricier side -- $18 a bottle -- they are quite lovely.  The diamond shimmer is something special and not easily, or cheaply, found in most polishes, so if you like being unique and sophisticated, étoile is a brand to get to know.  They also dry amazingly fast, which for a girl on the go, is fabulous!

You can purchase these polishes and other étoile colors by visiting etoilepolish.com.
The Mauvelous New Year Collection retails for $26 for the set or $18 each

  5. It's pricey, I agree, but it's really quite beautiful. A neutral with diamond shimmer really is a stunner in my book.

  9. Me too, but these are definitely luxury polishes given the diamond dust. Their earlier collection was also stunning from the pictures I saw, but I found it difficult to swallow the price.

  10. They are nice, but would you buy these?

  11. Depends on the color. Chanel polish is a few dollars more but I personally hate the formula. At least with these, the quality meets the price point. I think a polish with diamonds is a novel concept and a splurge for a special occasion or gift, but not necessarily as an everyday mani.
