As many of you know, I got engaged over the Christmas holiday. While both my fiance (so weird to say!) and I are Jewish, I can honestly say that this was a very special holiday season for both of us.
As requested, I bring to you the ring that he spent five months designing with the help of his and my mother. In my opinion, it's just perfect: classic and fits my taste perfectly!
I thought I'd add a bonus shot of the way he proposed: inside the fifth Harry Potter book, Order of the Phoenix. Because I used to figure skate and love the Harry Potter series, he proposed while we were ice skating in Vermont by hiding the ring inside the book (his father is an engineer and was able to carve out a slot in the book that fit the ring perfectly). While my first reaction was "I can't believe you ruined a book!", I of course said yes, a blubbery, sobbing yes, but a yes nonetheless.

So, in light of my recent engagement, how best to celebrate than to give you all a chance to have something equally sparkly on your fingertips?

Congratulations! I love the HP book idea! LOVEEEE HARRY POTTER! Mazeltof! (sorry if i spelt it wrong lol)
ReplyDeleteLol! Thank you so much! And we normally spell it Mazel Tov but since it's Yiddish and the alphabet isn't Latin, what you spelled it absolutely perfect!
ReplyDeletecongrats . . . So romantic . . .
ReplyDeleteParticularly nothing spl nw . .
I mean no special polish nw. . . May be something red and glittery.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your engagement! My boyfriend proposed to me before I became obsessed with polish, so my nails were bare.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, congrats! I love the book/ring detail... He must have seen it on Pinterest :) He's a keeper :D
ReplyDeleteI wasn't that into nail polish when I got married, so I'm pretty sure they were naked! Congratulations and your ring is just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWelll, I am coming up on my 10th wedding anniversary next month, so my wedding day polish was a french manicure ;-) Very popular "back then"! haha If I got married nowadays, with my polish obsession in full swing, it would be very different. I'd take forever to figure out what I would wear. I know one thing though, I 'd definitely do a baby blue polish on my toes for my 'something blue'!
ReplyDeleteSuch a huge congratulations to you both!!! :D That is so incredibly sweet how he proposed to you, and he designed such a stunning ring for you. :) Wishing you both an amazingly wonderful life together!!! :'D
ReplyDeleteI would wear something pastel as a base layered over with a silver glitter polish :)
ReplyDeleteSomething teal and sparkle :)
ReplyDeleteIm not 100 percent sure.... I think dark polishes look dramatic on me, so If I have my dream dress then zoya toni on medium length nails with a black lace stamp. If not then I am currently pretty enamored with Models Own Blooboo with Indian Ocean over the top... Something blue!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your engagement!)
ReplyDeleteIt would be Orly- Star Spangled.
Congratulations on your engagement! The ring is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI would love to wear a nice shimmering nude polish! I still haven't found that perfect polish yet but I am definitely on the hunt for it :)
I didn't wear any polish. I had gel nails... Later I thought it would have been so much better with color on my nails, but too late. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour ring is just beautiful! So glad you love it too - would have been horrible being as it was custom design if they got it wrong and it did not work right on your hand. It looks like one that will still work 30 yrs from now too and that's important - you are going to wear that for a long, long time. My sis 'said' she lost her's when it really was just too dated to wear it any more.
ReplyDeleteI wore Three coats OPI Canberra't Without You and two coats OPI Significant Other Color. http://allimcbally.blogspot.com/search/label/wedding It's the one at the bottom. It was so pretty.
ReplyDeleteChina Glaze Something Sweet or OPI Mod about You. Since they are the same . I love the pretty pale cream polishes. Should make that big rock sparkle! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think it can be French manicure, it looks very good.
ReplyDeleteCOngrats on your engagement and the ring is gorgeous !

ReplyDeleteI wore nude polish on my wedding 6 years ago. great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI would wear a classic pink and sparkly nail polish! :) GFC: Jia Wun
ReplyDeleteProbably just a french manicure, I like simple, slightly pink nails on big days, so you look well-groomed and well, to be honest... you'd want people to look at your dress. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to wear a french manicure.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I wore a sheer nude. I had no idea there were so many options and it was (gasp) 17 years ago.

ReplyDeleteI'll probably wear some simple french manicure or one polish from the ballet collection of OPI that has light roses and are absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...IDK, It depends on when my wedding is...probably something that is in season. Maybe a neutral like pink or grey, but something a little bright and colorful. It's hard telling.

whynoteveryday.wordpress.com
Something lavender like Essie - Play Date
ReplyDeleteI've never thought of myself as someone for a "big day" type of wedding, so I don't know exactly what polish. It'd probably coincide with my dress (if I wear a dress, I don't even know)
ReplyDeleteMy "big day" polish would have to be.. Essie Turquoise & Caicos
ReplyDeleteA simple french manicure with some spectraflair top coat!
ReplyDeleteI haven't decided! I have many ideas, but none have been "the one." However, I used ORLY Pixy Stix for my future-sister-in-law's wedding!
ReplyDeletei'll probably never get married but maybe someday my prince will come. i already know that my shoes would be brightly colored tennies or slippers. so i would probably do a sparkly french manicure with brightly colored tips to match my shoes.
ReplyDeleteI wore China Glaze Lubu Heels I think...
ReplyDeleteI would wear Zoya nail polish :) Shade.....i'm not sure about it!
ReplyDeleteI was naked :X (on my nails) .. it was before I was into polish!
ReplyDeletei would wear OPI Nail Polish Blushingham Palace!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your engagement. I think I wore clear polish when I got married but that was like 100 years ago.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Great ring you have! :) I would polish my nails with french manicure- classic but with something small for accent on the ring finger nail.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and great giveaway! I wasn't really into nail polish back when I got married, so I just had acrylics on with french tip, but there was a gemstone on my ring finger with a little daisy.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought about what I'd wear on my big day. But knowing how I am, I'd want my nails to stand out in something brighter than my dress.
ReplyDeleteI would prolly go with neons or a funky design. I can't see myself goin with white!
ReplyDeleteI think I would go with something classic, acrylics with french manicure
ReplyDeleteI wear Fancy Fucsia (Orly) =D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I just got engaged over thanksgiving, so I'm starting to consider my "big day" polish too! I'd love something unique and not traditionally bridal, possibly Zoya Bevin with a shimmer or light glitter.
ReplyDeleteAre you on facebook? I can't find you :(

ReplyDeleteYou can't go wrong with red!
ReplyDeleteFrench manicure or a nude color! :)
ReplyDeletei had a french manicure replaced the white with purple tho
ReplyDeleteOn my special day, I wasn't the nail polish addict that I am now, meaning my nails weren't discolored, so I just went with a basic white and natural french manicure... I had to look back at my pictures to remember;)
ReplyDeleteSomething shimmery nude-ish like Pandora by Zoya or Chanel Ballerina :)
ReplyDeleteMost likely it will be something pink on my nails and blue on my toes. But I have some time to think about it ;)

ReplyDeleteI would probably wear a nude polish.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really given much thought to it but I'd wear a pale creme pink, something like You Callin Me a Lyre? from the OPI NY Ballet collection.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your engagement! Such an exciting time in life, isn't it? It's been 28 years since I got engaged and almost 25 since I got married, but it was before I got into polish again so I'm sure my nails were bare at the time. For our renewal vows, since it'll be summer time (July) I'll probably do something either in neon with purple, blue, & green.
ReplyDeleteoh wow, I have no clue but maybe something with baby blue in it! :) I plan that to be my main color, its mine and my bfs fav color!! :D
ReplyDeleteA nude polish!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI would probably do a french and keep it natural. =) BTW, I'm drooling over that ring. Seriously. Congratulations. =)
ReplyDeletesince at weddings in my country we dont wear white dresses so the nail polish always matches the outfit and thats what i'll be doing. Also we have two days, one function from the bride's side and one from the groom. So there are two beautiful dresses, one always in shades of red or maroon so matching nail polish. And any other pretty color on the second day.I have decided on a french manicure for this day :)
ReplyDeleteI will wear the silver one. It is simply the best :)
ReplyDeleteOn my big day I plan to use China Glaze - It's a trap-eze :-D. I am in love with that polish.
ReplyDeleteUh...I'd probably go with a french manicure or something beautiful like OPI Care to danse? or any from that collection.
ReplyDeleteFrench manicure or a nude color!
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the clothes I am wearing. Right now I'm loving dark polishes
ReplyDeleteA simple french with a nude :) I dont want the focus to be on my nails, but on my make-up
ReplyDeleteSome naked nailpolish
