Twinsie Tuesday: Chanukah Inspired (Chanukah Mani #4)

Happy almost fourth day of Chanukah!

I say that because the fourth night will begin tonight at nightfall.  But Twinsie Tuesday's challenge is to post a Chanukah inspired mani so I'm posting this a bit early.

In my eight days of manis, I chose to showcase SmittenPolish Glass Elevator for my special TT post because I adore Noelie, the brain behind SmittenPolish.  Her indies are, thankfully for me, not glitter-intensive and beautifully combine cremes with mixes of colored pieces that leave really unique finishes.  On top of that, she's really such a nice person, which always soothes shopper's guilt ;)

With Glass Elevator, Noelie serves translucent aqua blue matte hex glitter and various shades of blue matte microglitter in a cream white base.  The final effect is both striking and soft, and I absolutely loved wearing this really cool polish.

The application was smooth (I love the brushes Noelie uses for her polishes) but took four coats for an even opacity that I was comfortable with.  I'd suggest two to three thicker coats if four is a bit much for you, but keep in mind it's difficult to smoothly even out glitter in thicker strokes.

I love how winter-esque this looks without even trying.

As to removal, I used two coats of glue for my base which also led to this manicure looking a bit thicker than I liked at the end (coupled, of course, with the four coats of Glass Elevator).  The glue made this chip somewhat quickly and I took the opportunity to test how easily this glitter mani would remove with two coats of glue, which I concluded was both ridiculously easy and fun: my nails literally popped off in one go.

SmittenPolish can be purchased for $9 USD a polish on Noelie's Etsy shop here.

  1. Beautiful! And that's cool that it just popped off when you wanted it to! I'll have to give the glue a try

  2. It's a bit annoying since it takes a while for the glue to dry and every little particle attaches itself to your nail but in the end, it's so worth it.

  12. This really is lovely, Amanda--the soft, soothing colours are so pretty! Not to mention, it's a rare glitter we can both agree on, hee! I wonder if you could layer maybe 2 coats over something like OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls to cut down the coats without losing that nice, soft base?

  13. That's a good thought. I have no idea why I didn't think about that myself. I don't actually own Scales, but Maribeth picked it up for $2 for me ages ago and we haven't yet had our meeting for me to get it yet :(

  14. Wow. Even for Maribeth, that's an awesome price! I'm so into Scales that I've already bought a backup for the backup for the backup that I'm already using. ;)
