Twinsie Tuesday: Birthstones

Good morning, ladies.

Happy Twinsie Tuesday!  For today's post, we are challenged to create a mani in the color of our birthstone.  For June babies like myself, we have three gems to choose from: pearl, Alexandrite, and moonstone.  Since pearl and Alexandrite are the most commonly known birthstones -- and in my opinion, the prettiest -- I decided to reflect both in my swatch.

Alexandrite is a really magical gemstone, which while typically a pinky lavender stone, changes colors in the sun.  So, what better to represent Alexandrite than a pinky lavender holo?  Two perfect coats of Urban Outfitters Pink Holo make up the majority of my manicure.  No dragging, no baldness, just perfectly applying linear holo goodness.

For pearl, I turned to one of the most beautiful white polishes I know of, Orly Au Champagne.  An opaque shimmer,  this Orly is pearlescent without being frosty.  I used Au Champagne for my accent finger.

I'd normally not pair these two polishes together since I think the finishes clash but I have to say that once swatched, the color combo outweighs the odd duality.  Makes me just love to be a June baby!

  4. Growing up, I was always jealous of the month's that had "girly" birthstone colors, such as June (and October). Great job capturing your stones!! Love this!
