A lot of Pure Ice the past two weeks! I can't say that I'm sorry about that since these polishes are not even $2 a pop. It's like guilt-free candy.
However, the swatches I have for you today are unfortunately bidding adieu to the world. Pure Ice has decided to retire 28 shades and rename a few others (for the full list, click here). Of those going away, here are a few that I chose to send off on my blog.
Very similar to Zoya Blaze, Super Star is a raspberry jelly with scattered holo glitter. While the application wasn't super smooth and it took about three coats for opacity, I still appreciated the final result, although it's no Blaze. This polish is gritty naturally but with a top coat, it's as smooth as a creme. If the formula was a bit thicker and more manageable I think I'd like this more than I do.
Gossip! with Tease layered over index and ring
When I saw these two, I knew they belonged with each. Gossip! (yes, with the exclamation mark) is Barbie doll bright pink creme that applies thinly. I applied two coats for the swatches above but I should've gone with a third.
Tease is a sheer fuchsia jelly packed with blue flakie microshimmer. Layered over Gossip!, Tease comes alive. I love how juicy and vibrant it looks! Perfect for summer. I applied two coats of Tease over Gossip! on my ring and index fingers.
Of all the polishes, I am most meh about this. Not coral at all, Coral Reef is in fact an orange sorbet color with tons of silver shimmer. In fact, the polish looks very much like a metallic tangerine. Application was fine but the formula was super thin. This was three coats. 3
I simply could not get this polish to photograph correctly. In the end, I had to settle for a slightly blurred, more color accurate Taupe Drawer (I know the name is corny, but for some reason, I really like that they named it that). A grurple crelly, this needs two thick coats for opacity. I like this, but not sure I love it. Maybe if it was a creme?
So there you have it, girls! Say goodbye to these and the rest of the discontinued shades by clicking here. Considering some of the really gorgeous shades they recently flooded the beauty aisle with, I can't say I'll miss them all that much.
You can purchase Pure Ice from the Bari Cosmetics website or at Walmart stores nationwide.
