Chanukah Mani #5: GOSH Holographic Hero

Happy fifth night of Chanukah!

I can't believe that Chanukah is more than half over.  For a holiday that lasts over a week, I'm shocked at how I mentally miss the holiday season until it's basically done.  I guess I shouldn't complain being so busy, but I'm seriously looking forward to my vacation next week when I can finally appreciate that it's December and the end of another year.

Anyway, for tonight's post I have an absolute stunner that I recently received from a Secret Santa Swap from the lovely Rachael.  She deluged me in holos (a few from the OMG collection; yes, be jealous, be very jealous) but the minute GOSH Holographic Hero popped up of its wrapper, I knew this was going on my nails immediately.

A true linear holo, this GOSH used to be VHTF until recently when it began to be repromoted at various stores, mostly in Canada (where Rachael lives).  Hopefully, these will start popping up in the US, as I've already picked up GOSH Galaxy which was released with this holo, I'm hoping that's a sign for more coming our way.

I can't really say much about the formula since I may be to blame for my un-fun application process.  My first time using an aqua base, I thought it would be a good trial run for under this holographic wonderland.  Boy was a wrong.  Holographic Hero had some dragging and patchiness which until I try another base coat, I will attribute to the aqua base.  In the end, I had to use 3 coats for adequate opacity but this was a real mother trying to remove from my cuticles where it pooled.

Regardless of the subpar application, Holographic Hero is a total win in my book.  In normal light (as you can see from all but one of my photos), the holo is super apparent, smooth, and heavenly.  But in softer light, my nails looked like I had a silky silver shade on my fingers, which in my mind makes this more work appropriate.

My recommendation for anyone who sees this baby is to bring it home with you asap -- providing you purchase it first, of course.

Thank you Rachael for such a beautiful holiday gift!

  1. Such a gorgeous polish and an all time lemming of mine. Holos tend to be patchy, I have found that you have to wait in between coats a couple minutes more than usual so it isn't such a painful process, but nonetheless this is a beauty! You look good in holo!

  2. Aw, thanks! I've never had issues with my holos before, so having application problems with the linears like this one and my Nfu-Oh surprise me. It's a whole new experience that I wasn't prepared for, clearly.

  5. I don't know what it is, but I'm all of a sudden gaga over holos. I've always liked them, but something about the season has gotten to my head.
