Chanukah Mani #2: OPI Pirouette My Whistle over NOPI Others Pale in Kim-parison

Happy second night of Chanukah!

This is going up a bit later than intended but blame my boyfriend's router and my apparent allergy to hookah.  I've been on a Benadryl drip all day in the wake of my boyfriend's brother's 30th birthday party at a hookah bar (no one even smoked hookah in the group so I'm unsure why we went there in the first place).  As I am allergic to everything, I woke up this morning with red ping pong balls for eyes and have spent the following hours in an anti-histamine induced stupor.  What a fun Sunday.

Anyways, it is now the second night of Chanukah!  Wooo.  Yeah three o's is about all I can muster at the moment.  To celebrate, I have a more winter inspired Chanukah mani.  I used four coats of NOPI Others Pale in Kim-parison (yes, feel free to cringe) as a base, an off white crelly that applies horribly unevenly.  Over that was a dab of OPI Pirouette My Whistle, which added a really pretty touch to an otherwise neutral mani.

Too tired to say much else other than I'm a fan of this soft combination and think it really represents the season (at least, for those of us in the Northern hemisphere).  Not thrilled with the fact that I had to use four coats of the NOPI for opacity, but it's a pretty cream white, nonetheless.

And please excuse the nubbins; I had a severe break in my index finger nail and tried to even the rest out.  Not a fan of the shorties myself so I figured I'd let you girls know in case you also felt an unexplained aversion to my next few swatches.

  7. These are gorg together! I have both and cannot wait to try this. Get to feeling better soon - hopefully what is causing your allergies passes or your body gets to accommodating it. I just got back from a way long medical trip all last week out of town and every day I was attacked by something that drove me nuts...so good to be back on the cold beach at home with clean, clear cold weather.

  8. You're lucky that you have such a nice environment to come home to! It's dreary in NYC right now.

  9. From the final result, I wouldn't have guessed you had such trouble with the NOPI (If you're gonna have such a groan-worthy name, you better apply well, dangit). It's lovely!!

  10. I agree! Anything that begins with a K that should begin with a C already annoys me, but 4 coats??

  11. Yeah, that's way too many. And if the K/C wasn't enough, it's not even the first time they've used that super-witty Kim-pares 'play' in a name. I can't help wondering if I wouldn't be getting more of their recent colours (or, y'know, Kolors) if the names weren't so relentlessly Kardashian.

  12. What's even sadder is that despite their names (or knames?), I still find myself buying them. I know, I'm such a sellout.

  13. That's not sellout at all! Pretty is pretty. I'm more disappointed with myself for letting my annoyance with the name Nothing Kim-pares to Blue stop me from getting what really looks like a lovely polish. ;)

  14. That one is actually my favorite of all the Kardashian polishes so I'd have to support you in getting that one stat.

  15. Sweet! "Amanda told me to" trumps name-annoyance, hands down.

  16. This is such a pretty mani! So glittery and fun! :) I think your shorties look great! I'm experiencing a lot of breaks, too...

  17. Ooo, I really like this combo! It's definitely very wintery and I think you captured the feel of freshly fallen snow perfectly. The Kardashian Kolors names (and the fact that they're Kardashian-related) make me die inside but I'll keep buying them so long as they're pretty! I know no shame.
