Zoya Ornate Holiday 2012 Collection Swatches and Review:

Hi girls!

I'm so excited to show you the newest collection from Zoya for the holiday season.  Zoya Ornate has gotten a lot of buzz (and well-deserved, as you will see!) for finally releasing some holos.  While the collection seems a tad bit disjointed to me (2 metallics, 3 holos, and a bar glitter?), everyone will find something that suits their taste.

Logan
A metallic evergreen foil with gold, olive, teal, and hunter green shimmer, this is a very unique polish.  While there have definitely been green metallics on the market, I simply can't think of a single dupe for this.  Logan applies smoothly and opaquely in two coats.

Ziv
While I'm not a huge fan of gold polishes, there's something soft about Ziv.  A pale champagne metallic, the flecks of silver keep the polish on the more neutral side.  Not my favorite of the bunch, but I'm sure that plenty of girls will flock to this very holiday-inspired polish.  This is three easy coats.

Blaze

Now we're talking!  Blaze is one of the fabulous holos from this collection.  A raspberry red jelly, it applies smoothly with a little bit of cuticle pooling so only use thin coats, ladies!  The holo is very strong but scattered and can be seen in almost any light...except by camera.  While in the picture you can make out the dusty sparkles, in real life this glows rainbow.  Even without the holo, the color of this jelly is spectacular and vies for first in my favorites from this collection.  This is three coats of pure loveliness.

 Aurora

The second of the brilliant holos, Aurora is a medium-toned purple scattered holo jelly.  Again, this baby sparkles even not in direct sunlight and was captured slightly more than in Blaze.  I wore this for two days with only minimal tipwear (as this picture demonstrates) so I was super pleased with Aurora on a number of levels.  Again, apply thin coats to avoid pooling.  This was three coats.

Storm

Tying for first with Blaze is Storm, a black scattered holo jelly.  The best formula of the three holos in this collection, Storm only required two coats for opacity.  I'm super bummed that the holos are refusing to come out and play in my photos, but please note that wherever you see the little bit of silver dusting, that's actually highly holographic in real life.  I'm going to have to do a separate holo post for these to really demonstrate how awesome these babies are.

Electra
Electra is the random polish in the group.  A silver holographic bar glitter, it applies thickly and is somewhat difficult to maneuver on the nail.  I layered one thick coat over Storm and without flash or direct sunlight, Electra simply looks like silver hair on the nail.  My photo is with flash to pick up the holograph, but you can still see that the natural silver is pretty dominant.  Again, not my cup of tea but I'm sure there will be an audience for this.

All in all, I think the holos and Logan redeemed what could've been a really awkward collection of random colors and finishes.  If you're a holo fan, then I would highly recommend getting Blaze, Aurora, and Storm -- the stars of this collection.  They really have just so beautiful.

  15. Love the pale champagne gold of Ziv, and I had no idea Storm was a holo--now I must have eet! Blaze too, wow, it's gorgeous. Pretty much all of these look like they'd be fun for the holidays but not so "themed" that they wouldn't look just as great year-round.
