Twinsie Tuesday: Halloween Inspired

For today's Twinsie Tuesday post, I intend to knock your nail-art-loving selves' socks off. Well, maybe just half a sock.  I mean, let's me honest, I'm not that skilled with anything beyond applying straight up polish and making fun of glitter.  Yes, I do consider mocking glitter a skill.  Nevertheless, for our Halloween inspired manicure, I went whole hog with my scotch tape and have brought you a duo of Halloween China Glaze polishes to create a mummified manicure.

Using my last two mani colors, China Glaze Mummy May I and China Glaze Immortal, I educated myself in the art of tapicure.  Thanks to the simple and straightforward tutorial of Jane at Nailside, I was able to complete a Halloween inspired manicure that did not involve pumpkins, ghosts, or anything requiring doodling.  While tape manis can be annoying (tape is sticky, you know) and this one required particularly thin strips, once I got into a rhythm, I finished this whole thing in about ten minutes.

I'm not sure that this looks exactly like a mummy, but I do enjoy the way these two colors complement one another and how the Mummy May I base glitter peeks through oh-so-subtly.  I would pat myself on the back but I'd probably smudge what I have on now.

Importantly, I'd like to thank Nory for encouraging me to try this out.  I was initially going to swatch one of the China Glaze Halloween polishes I own and call it a day but she pushed me to try something a bit out of my comfort zone for this week.  While the rules state that Twinsies are technically not allowed to share our manis in advance with one another, I was bad and texted Nory this mani, one nail at a time as I went through the tape process, she prodded me along with a bunch of hyperbolic positives and a copious amount of undeserved exclamation marks.  So if you like this mani, please thank her.

  11. Amanda!! Please help yourself to a bunch more hyperbolic compliments and exclamation points because these turned out so, so well! You got such great, crisp lines from your tape, which you did a fabulous job of "draping" like mummy wrappings, and these polishes look gorgeous together.

Consider this a wildly successful trip outside your comfort zone--and hooray for Nory too!!

  13. I appreciate that, Elizabeth. I was actually a nervous wreck as I "draped," and was petrified one ruined line would spoil the whole manicure. This is a product of sheer anxiety.

  17. Haha, I've done so many manicures like that, where you're all jangly and stressed the entire time, waiting for that one thing that's going to bring the whole house of cards down in a messy heap. No heap today, though--these really do look fantastic! ^_^

  19. Thank you! I'm a fan of purple and grey myself, but was unsure how it would turn out in a mani.
