BK Fashion Nail Color in Dark Red (18) and Peach Pink (24)

Oh, Monday.  How I despise you.

Fitting for such a day are two polishes that seriously underwhelmed.  BK Fashion Nail Color, sold through Born Pretty Store under their shimmer polish section, seemed enticing enough from the bottle.  Dark Red and Peach Pink glowed from all the silvery shimmer and even though it wasn't, felt like it bordered on holographic.

However, appearances can be deceiving.  Instead, these polishes applied gloopy, uneven, and thick.  To top it off, the polish stunk to high heaven.  Like bad.  Like gave me a headache bad.

I started with Dark Red (18) which has some potential in that it is heavily flecked with ruby red shimmer in a burgundy creme.  The formula, like I describe above, was really terrible and even after a thick topcoat, still looks super gritty.

I tried to get creative in my high of toxic fumes and tape mani'ed my ring finger for an accent with Peach Pink (24), which is more of a bright baby pink metallic.  Not as bad of a formula but still the smell.  Seriously, noxious.

On top of all that great stuff, removing these was almost as unbearable, the Dark Red leaving major staining that left me with what looked like bloody, battered cuticles.  I used whitening toothpaste to try and take some of the red out but even that didn't stop my boyfriend's mother from noticing that my fingers looked funny.

Not good, girls.  Not good at all.

  1. While this wasn't a fun experience for you, I think your mani looks AWESOME!!!! I'm loving that accent nail! Sorry the polish gave you issues though. Especially the staining :(

  2. Thanks, Marisa! I'm glad that it's somewhat okay to look at. But every time I look at the photos the grittiness absolutely kills me and the smell comes wafting back...

  3. Although the fumes from this was terribly stinky and there was horrible staining, the outcome was fantastic! I love the accent.

  7. It's really a shame these didn't work better than this because I *love* the way the colours look together on your accent nail. Excellent job blocking!
