Happy Twinsie Tuesday, girls! And a very happy birthday to the fabulous and fellow Twinsie, Tara!
The birthday girl was actually very instrumental in the making of today's post. But first, some background.
Today's Twinsie Tuesday mani is a bit of a departure for us. We Twinsies ran into a minor scheduling snag and somehow decided that instead of our normal challenges, we would use the Elfster website to give each other secret Santa-type partners and without telling anyone, copy a non-TT mani that has previously been posted on their blog. So while I said Tara was a big part of today's post, my Secret Copycat is actually...
BRANDI
As soon as I saw that little Miss Collegiate Nail was my copycatee, I knew instantly what I wanted to do. Back in the day (read: like two weeks ago), Brandi had a blog header that was super tongue in cheek: six rainbow mani'ed hands holding the quintessentially collegiate red cup.
However, Brandi is apparently fickle (read: has unintentionally bad timing) and up and changes her blog header to fancy schmancy glasses (read: it's super cute but no more red cup graphic). How in the world was I supposed reference my intended TT mani now?
Enter, Tara -- my partner in crime. The two of us underwent a major reconnaissance mission, with Tara acting as my decoy in obtaining the original header. Brandi wouldn't give, however, and it was only a few days ago when Tara was on another computer and found the old header in an opened tab. I am now forever is her debt.
This is the masterpiece I seek to recreate:

So my idea to copy this was to skittle both my hands on one cup. However, holding the cup upright with my skittled hands looked like creepy yet psychedelic Cousin It; I had to, in fact, hold the cup upside down above my head for this to work. Yes, above my head. I looked utterly ridiculous.
My boyfriend was my designated photographer for this so my apologies for the grainy camera phone picture.

So to my dear Brandi, I hope that I have honored you well. And for future notice, I kindly request that you speak with me before any and all blog changes. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
I want to note that as a New Yorker, today is a very solemn day for me. I remember September 11, 2001 vividly and this day will forever be etched in the memories of us all. My heart goes out to all those who were lost.

Ahhh! I love it! This looks awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so fabulously awesome, Amanda--what a perfect idea!! The colours you picked are great too. The red is an especially good match for the quintessentially collegiate cup red. :D
ReplyDeleteLove it!!! I have no idea what the polishes are. Too many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteThis is very cute! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks! It was a surprisingly easy concept with very difficult ramifications, oddly enough.
ReplyDeleteHa! I hear that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nory!!
ReplyDeleteWow you did such a fabulous job Amanda!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anne! I'm more proud of the legwork than the actual result!
ReplyDeleteWow! This came out fantastic! I love how you incorporated the red cup in this post. Your skittles are gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteYou flatter me! It's not the greatest post and I'm not happy that the cup is upside down, but it's the best I could do!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great way to pay homage to Brandi ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, this is great! I think you did a wonderful job and would love to see the full picture of you posing these nails :D
ReplyDeleteHa...no you wouldn't! It was baaaad.
ReplyDeleteI still wanna see a full shot of you standing there with a cup on your head. ;p
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!! Loved reading your post too! I think this is great!!!
ReplyDeleteOne day, perhaps. One day...
ReplyDeleteThanks, lady! I appreciate you appreciating my ramble :P
ReplyDeleteI'm crying laughing. This is the sweetest/most hilarious thing I've ever seen! I'm so sorry ou had to go on a wild goose chase to get that header! You did an awesome job recreating it in your own way, even if you had to hold it above your head :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to make you cry/laugh! It was so much fun to get you but yeah, you make a blogger work! And seriously, how in the world did you manage to hold your hand like that on the cup and take the picture? It's frankly impossible.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely fantastic, Amanda!!! :D I love this!!
ReplyDeleteTripod?
ReplyDeleteLove this! I, too, want to see the full version :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, it wasn't the camera angle, it was the hand angle I had issues with.
ReplyDeleteHa! Not gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteSorry, I thought you were asking her how she could take a pic whilst holding a cup. I assumed she used a tripod and remote :)
ReplyDeleteRegardless, the two of you are waaay more advanced when it comes to my pointing and clicking. I barely know how to spell camera.
ReplyDeleteThis is so fun! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!
ReplyDeletegreat mani! love this! I'm trying to picture you holding the cup above your head. LOL.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty ridiculous too see.
ReplyDeleteHahaha holding a cup above your head? That's dedication! I think this is an awesome homage to Brandi's old banner! Great job!
ReplyDeleteLol, thank you!
ReplyDeletelmao! I love that you were able to get that picture of her header!! Your copycat mani is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteHa, thanks Traci!
ReplyDeleteHa! I didn't use you a tripod. I held the cup upside down and rotated the picture. Very complicated stuff. :)
