Twinsie Tuesday: Rainbow

I want to apologize for what I feel is a lackluster Twinsie manicure.

Today's challenge was to create a rainbow mani.  Being considerably rainbow'ed out from my copycat mani last week, I was thoroughly devoid of any sort of Roy G. Biv inspiration.  So instead, I went the complete opposite, and started with a nude base a la RGB Doll, which was so aptly described by my boyfriend who poetically waxed, "What's the difference between that color and your hands?"  Ah, from the mouth of babes.

Anyways, I actually tried a few things to make this fit the week's criteria.  My first attempt was to try a  rainbow leopard print, which did not go as planned.  I think tried a splatter attempt but was too lazy to go downstairs and get a straw so I just tried to flick the wand at my nails hoping for the best.  Polish, however, is thicker than I anticipated and just kinda glooped at the end of the wand, annoyingly refusing to budge.  In my aggravation, I just started to take those gloops and dab them randomly on my ring finger.

Behold, my abstract rainbow mani!

Apart from the seriously dry state of my cuticles (how does that happen so quickly??), I'm fairly pleased with my result.  Understated yet effective; what more could a girl ask for in a mani?

  4. Ahahah I love your bf's comment!! XD Awesome mani!! :D I went abstract too, but more because I got frustrated and angry with my manicure, and less on purpose.

  6. My cuticles look like crap if I am not obsessive about it, like, daily. Even if I miss a day of constant moisturising, they look awful. :(

This is very "you". I like it!

  8. Thanks but I wouldn't go so far as to say "artistic."

  9. Sad thing is, I have been. It's just the change in weather to even slightly cooler has this affect on my skin. I've been using copious amounts of Aquaphor before I go to sleep and that seems to be working.

  10. Yeah, me too :/ I have to be more diligent than I was last year with the moisturizing and gloves.

  11. That's pretty artsy though; anger seems to help with creating. Or so I'm told.

  12. I thought splatter would be so easy but I really overestimated my skills and underestimated the effort.

  16. Thanks! I was actually thinking of you when attempting to do the splatter. Yours clearly is superior to my excuse of a rainbow.
