Twinsie Tuesday: Color of Your Car (Diamond Cosmetics Serendipity)

Happy Tuesday, ladies.

Today's Twinsie Tuesday challenge was intriguing: create a mani the same color of your car.  I'm not a huge driver (I've had the car for nearly 10 years and only have about 23,000 miles on it), but I do love my little Saturn Ion 3 in Silver Blue.  I got her (Suzanne the Sedan, who are the time I married off to my friend's car, Henry Honda) for my 17th birthday, which in New York City is the legal age to drive.  Since then, Saturn has gone out of business but my car chugs along happily, most of the time basking in the sunlight of my driveway as I take public transportation to work everyday.  (Side point: even if you have a car in NYC, I don't recommend driving into Manhattan.  Ever.)

What I really liked about doing this week's post was that my car's color is really quite lovely. Exactly as the name of the color denotes, my car is a sky blue with grey undertones with a really nice shimmer to it.  I was super lucky to own Diamond Cosmetics Serendipity, a shimmery creme that matched my car exactly.

This is two coats of buttery goodness.  I absolutely love Diamond Cosmetics polishes and using this color again just reminded me why.

I tried taking a picture of my nails, the polish bottle, and my car together but I hit a few snags:

1.  Because cars are not perfectly horizontal, the bottle kept sliding down the hood.
2.  Because my car is fairly shiny and light, my photographing shadow kept showing up in the pictures quite awkwardly.
3.  Because it was in the evening, the colors were seriously off.

So instead, I've Google imaged a picture of the front of my car.  The color in this picture is a tad darker than what the color is in real life, so please just believe me when I say that Serendipity was a dead on match.

On a side note, I'd like to wish all my readers observing Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement and the holiest day of the Hebrew Calendar, that begins tonight and into tomorrow an easy and meaningful fast.  Since I observe this day strictly, I will not be blogging, commenting, or responding to comments during this time.  I will be back tomorrow night, however, although considerably hungrier.

  1. I love your car story and the color of it (and your nails!). Also, thank you for explaining Yom Kippur. My boys have no school tomorrow (they never had it off in Massachusetts or Oregon) and I realized I had no idea what this day was all about. <3

  2. I'm so glad you like it and that I was able to explain the day to you. It's funny that only in NYC and some NJ public schools have off on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. My grandmother (who grew up in Brooklyn) told me the reason why is because back in the day most of the teachers in those areas were Jewish and to hire substitutes for those days would cost more than just closing the schools so that kinda stuck. I always found that so funny.

  8. Thank you! And it's not a real enjoyment-filled holiday. I hate fasting :(

  11. Well that part sucks. But isn't this the holiday where you basically forgive all and all is forgiven (waaaaaay generalizing here, please correct me if I am wrong)? If so I would think that is such an amazing feeling, there are some people I want to forgive and just cannot no matter how hard I try, and I envy the feeling you must have lifted when you can do that.

  12. Well, ish. You are forgiven (if you probably repent) what you've done against God. But you aren't forgiven what you did against other people unless you ask for forgiveness from them. Which sucks in that it doesn't absolve you from what you do to each other without direct confrontation, but a good tactic to make peace with people.

  13. oh gotcha. Well, yeah, I am bad about the confrontation part, especially to make peace :) On a lighter note, I just noticed your new header (I remember you talking about it) LOVE it!

  25. Thankfully, it's over now and all I can think about is my next polish color!

  26. Ha, it's funny you think this is bold. It's literally just a light blue car that easily stands out around black or red cars :)
