Soulstice Spa Napa and Berlin

Brands like Soulstice Spa are hard to come by.  Being both environmentally and beauty conscious, Soulstice Spa was one of the first companies I had ever heard of that worked both angles.  For that, it will always be always have a special place on my polish shelf.

While each polish is named for a part of the world, each captures the essence of that city which I find very cool.  For Fall 2012, I was lucky enough to be sent two new shades by Soulstice Spa's creator, Kayse.

First up, Napa.

I've never been to California but when you hear Napa, don't you instantly think "wine?"  I know this New Yorker does.  How perfect then that this shimmery, semi metallic shade has rich burgundy undertones to make this color appear like sloshing vino on your nails?  The exact shade of red is hard to figure out, because there is a slight duochrome-esque quality to Napa that shifts the red from Bloody Mary to Pinot Noir.  The formula was also perfect and in two buttery coats, I reached opacity.  I actually wore Napa all week (minimal tip wear ladies!) and received countless compliments on this shade.  In fact, I also listed this as one of my Top 10 Transitional polishes for Fall 2012.

And now for Berlin.

Maybe I just read too much wartime fiction, but a deep blackened eggplant seems so reminiscent of spies going incognito in the night, smokey lounges in 1920s Germany, and Carmen Sandiego (yeah, I went there).  This jellied purple is thick and viscous but does require three coats for smoothness and full opacity.  The coats are well worth it once you have the definition of vampy on your fingertips.  I'm actually wearing this color now as I speak and I really love how rich it looks.

Soulstice Spa is a vegan, cruelty-free, PETA-certified Caring Consumer Company and all polishes are non-toxic, paraben, 3 Free, and USA made.  Soulstice Spa polishes retail for  USD $8, with a portion of each purchase benefits environmental and social nonprofits.
