Firmoo Eyewear

I shy away from showing full on photos of myself, but today I'm breaking the rules.

I am blind as a bat.  Technically, I'm legally blind which means I can't function without my lenses, which are stapled into my eye each morning the minute I wake up.  But like any near-sighted girl, I like to play up my glasses whenever I fancy.

Firmoo, "the world's most popular online eyeglasses store," sells a range of eye and sunwear that is both trendy and affordable -- the prices of the frames range from about $8 to $70.  As I was perusing the site to choose my frame of choice, I was overwhelmed with the different avenues I could go with my new glasses.  Normally, I find it difficult to buy those sort of things online, given the fact that you can't try them on.  However, Firmoo has a great little virtual try-on feature where you can either upload your own photo or choose a preloaded face that resembles your own to try the glasses.  I have a heart shaped face and find smaller frames look ridiculous on me, so having an online model to test out what I chose was really helpful in selecting my pair.

Once I had placed my order, I was contacted very quickly about a mistake in my prescription.  The customer service representative was really helpful in explaining the issue to me and while it took me some time calling my eye doctor and local glasses store, was able to sort out my prescription and received my frames within a week!

Unisex Full Frame Acetate Eyewear, $24.90

The glasses I am wearing in the picture below are oversized rectangular frames in tortoiseshell  (although the site calls them black) that I thought had a Sol Moscot-esque feel to them in the online photos.  Once on, they have more of a studious, less hipster look to them; and in fact, my boyfriend said I looked much smarter in these (thanks?).  As to quality, these are pretty sturdy.  While lightweight, they seem quite durable and are super comfortable to wear.

What do you think?

Bonus points goes to Firmoo for including a dust bag in addition to the hard case and cleaner. I prefer a sturdier case for my glasses, but I appreciate that they sent options!

As nervous as I was about ordering frames online, Firmoo made the experience pretty seamless.  My recommendation for anyone interested in checking out the site is to get their pupillary distance (PD) information in advance.  My opthamologist does not include that in his prescription and it was necessary to process my frames through the site and was the only reason in the slight delay of my order.

In a commitment to providing their customers with high-quality and fashionable eyewear at affordable prices, Firmoo has launched a program offering free eyewear to first-time buyers (though you will have to pay for shipping).  If you are interested in trying out Firmoo's free first-time offer, click here to order your free pair!

  5. You are so pretty. I like those glasses on you. If I knew my prescription I'd order me a pair. I'm long overdue for a new pair of glasses.

  6. Thanks, ChiChi! But I also hadn't gotten a new pair in years before this. Wearing lenses has completely made me lazy about my glasses.

  8. I love these on you! As we would say in Boston, "You look wicked smart" (only it would sound like 'smaht'). I'm blind as a bat also, although you beat me with you legal blindness. I get anxiety about random things like, "what if there is some end world scenario, and I survive somehow, but my glasses/contacts are destroyed and I have to wander the Earth seeing everything fuzzy?". You know- sort of like that old Twilight Zone episode with the book guy? But, I digress. I love your glasses, and you are simply gorgeous.

  10. I love the Boston accent! It just makes me smile.

And omg, yes! I have the same ridiculous fear! I had a friend once say in sixth grade that she would die in the Holocaust because they'd have to take her glasses away and she'd be completely blind. That thought has freaked me out every since. Not to mention that Twilight episode that is also super ironic. But that show rocked.
