Avon Real Red

Good morning, ladies.

I went to a launch party for a new watch company last night and I am now beyond tired.  The party was fun but I clearly am not a go-out-and-drink-on-a-Tuesday-night kinda girl.

Anyways, I have no clever segue so I will just discuss the polish for today.  Avon Real Red is as classic a red as they come: bright but not too bright, with semi-blue undertones this is a red for a classic girl who doesn't want anything too in your face on her hands.  However, because of the crelly consistency of the formula, the more coats you apply, the deeper the shade becomes.

My only issue is that the formula was a tad runny which unfortunately happens a lot with crelly reds (does anyone know why??).  However, the semi-wide brush (about 2/3 the width of an OPI or Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure wand) really helps with the application.  My recommendation would be to begin with a thinner base coat to define the nail beds and then a thicker second coat to "color it in."

This is two coats.

As a red polish fan, I'm pretty pleased with this color and think it's a good staple to have in any budding lacquerhead's collection.

Avon polishes are really affordable and it's not uncommon to find a color you want on discount for about $3.  Given the sizable bottle, I think that's a pretty good deal.

  2. Nice red! Runny polishes can be such a pain to work with, especially when they flood your cuticles! :)

  3. Agreed! And red is never good when it pools because then your cuticles look bloody.

  9. Great classic red. I have one red like this and it's definitely runny! I wonder why this is, too!

  11. It's probably like yellow formulas consistently being chalky. Unanswered questions that boggle the minds of polishaholics like us!

  14. Thanks! I attribute that to the fact that I have no blood and am paler than pale.
