Twinsie Tuesday: Color Blocking

Happy Tuesday, girls!

So, I'm happy to say that this is in fact our last nail art-esque challenge for awhile and so I conclude this hellish Twinsie Tuesday month with my color-blocked mani.

My cousin who works in fashion told me at dinner the other week that color blocking was out for fall so as I was doing this tape mani, I felt very out of style.  That being said, I was pretty uninspired with my color choices and just used two exceptionally random polishes for this mani: Sally Hansen Fairy Teal, which stains like the Dickens, topped with Sally Hansen Lacey Lilac.  I tried to do a tri-blocking but as I have absolutely no patience, I applied the tape on when the lilac was still wet and destroyed the mani. Thank goodness I had the foresight to photograph the two blocks when I did.

Let's ignore the weird cuticle edging on my ring finger.  I only realized once formatting this picture that my tape had apparently lifted some of my teal when applying Lacey Lilac.  Given my failure trying to use a third color, I'm just going to keep this as it is: a testament to the fact that I've almost, sort of perfected the tape mani, as long as it's a used for a straight line only.  Yay me and my extensive talents!

Make sure to check out my Twinsies too!

  2. Lol. It's a lesson I learned from so many tape manis gone astray.

  7. This looks great! Lines are very straight. That is too bad colorblocking is out for fall. I like it! And, I got this amazing dress from Gap this past summer (I guess it was still in for summer as it was new) and I found the perfect sweater to carry it in to fall. Guess not :(

  8. I'm sure you can find a way to rock it. There's no reason to not wear something you love just because it's out this season. Unless it's plaid, which was unexplainably in in 2008. That trend needs to die and never get reborn.

  13. That's so nice! Sometimes I'm concerned that not everyone speaks "Amandalandish" and that I just come off as crazy.

  16. I didn't know color blocking was out for fall. I was already planning to pick up some new items to incorporate it in. Good thing I know now. I think these 2 colors look good together.
