Shimmer Polish Jennifer

I normally try to layer my Shimmer Polishes over a creme that is about the same color as the primary base glitter, taking cue from the little sticker heart to the left of the polish name.    With Jennifer, I decided to try something different, and instead layered it over China Glaze Dance Baby, a pink crelly that matched one of the accent glitters.

I'm not sure if my polish departure paid off.

While Jennifer is rich in aqua glitter, highlighted with pink, silver, and mint, the pink glitter disappears over the China Glaze.  I do, however, like how the highly reflective glitter is less mirror-like on the nail and instead gives the mani a peppered and textured look, which is pretty cool nonetheless.

I'll probably layer this over a corresponding aqua creme in the future (Wet n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint?), but I think even without a matching base to bolster it, Jennifer holds its own.

What would you layer Jennifer over or would you wear it alone?

  1. I am a layering fool, so I would definitely layer this one too. I love the idea of it over "I Need A Refreshmint"- that would look so cool too!

  3. This is a beautiful combination, Amanda! I don't know just how much pink you feel like you're losing in the translation, but the contrast between the base and the cooler glitter colours is stunning.

These are the most amazing glitters!

  6. The bottle shots don't capture how strong the pink is so it's hard to explain why I'm disappointed.

  7. Beautiful! I actually love this over the pink, it brings out the other colored glitters well even if it kind of eats the pink ones.

  8. I can't really see all the glitters in there, but I think I may try it over a blackened blue.

  9. You're the glitter expert to my n00b, so I defer to your better judgment, oh wise, sparkly one.

  10. This is really pretty. Most of the time polishes that have my name turn out to be not cute at all, but this one isn't that way. Wonder how it would look over green :D

  14. Ah, this is so pretty! That seems to be the case with all of the Shimmer polishes, so I shouldn't be surprised that I love this one too.

  15. Yeah, Zoya had a Jennifer, but I think they discontinued it...it was a sheer nude :O( I think they are implying our names are boring. I will be anxiously waiting to see this over green :D

  17. I'm not sure it's totally my thing, but I can understand why true glitter lovers like to layer that way.
