Sinful Colors Pull Over

I really try to keep my posts in a relative order; I sincerely feel they have feelings and if I post a newer swatch before an older one, the latter will get upset.  It's more the polish that will be offended, not the swatch per se, but I'm getting off topic.  My point is that sometimes a polish has to take the hit so that a newer polish has its moment in the sun.  This is one of those times.

Pull Over is one of the million and three new polishes released this past week from Sinful Colors, this from the Study in Style collection.  Normally a shade of a color that I would run away from like it was on fire, this taxi cab yellow caught my attention simply because it's a shade of a color that I would normally run away from.  I recently said in a guest post on The Collegiate Nail that I've unofficially dubbed this month "Might as Well Try July" so this fit the bill, cost two bucks, and became mine.

The formula was okay, thick but slightly watery in that it pooled annoyingly in my cuticles while I applied it.  However, I've found that Sinful Colors crellies, of which this is one, are typically the worst of their formulas so of those I've tried, this isn't the worst.

This is 3 coats.

I'm really not so sure about this color on me.  While this is supposed to be really "in" right now, I don't know if I can jump on this bandwagon.  My boyfriend hated it except in the light that he said it looked somewhat green.  It doesn't fight my skin tone but it doesn't exactly work with it either.  Maybe if it was a full on creme I would appreciate the primary yellow-ness of this, but for now, I'm still on the fence.

Thoughts?

  1. Hmm, this is an interesting yellow...I'm not much of a fan of yellows though. Unless it is a highlighter yellow, lol. Your nails look great  :O)

  2. Thanks, Jenna. And yeah, it's just one of those shades that if you don't like yellow even remotely, you certainly won't like this.

  3. You know, I think I have this one in my "to try" pile.  It's been there for a bit, and I keep jumping over it, insulting it, by choosing other polishes that I purchased after her ;)  Yellow is always so hard for me to like on myself. I think it looks great on you, but I hear you on being unsure about it!

  5. I think it works for your skin, personally. But I know how you feel. I do not know about yellow on me, either. I guess we can always leave it to Nory to rock them!

  6. I would try it in a jelly sandwich before I wrote it off completely:) otherwise it is a good detail color

  7. Interesting yellow, I think for me the only time I'll wear yellow is if its bright yellow or a pastel yellow. This Sinful one looks a little dusty, but I think it looks good on you! I love your nail shape!

  9. I like this on you because even though it is a yellow it doesn't make you look too pale, but the boldness of the yellow is still present. I think that this color can work for you, it's like me an orange, little by little I started to like it and realized it wasn't so bad after all. You rocked this polish!

  10. I think a lot of people will be ambivalent about this shade of yellow, if not yellow in general.  For $2, it was worth it to step outside my comfort zone and wear it for a day or two.

  11. Very true.  When in doubt, Nory will rock the yellow.

  12. Good idea.  Maybe with some gold glitter in between...food for thought...

  13. I'm like you and if I branch into yellow, will stick with "safe" pastels or neons.  This is a bit dusty and not quite as bright as it could be if it were a creme.  Thank you so much for your compliment though!

  14. Lol.  I still am very proud of the work I accomplished with you and orange.  Maybe I will come around to this color, but perhaps if it was a bit bolder...?  Maybe like that Nars yellow you have...I forget the name.  But for the meantime, I'm perfectly content with the buttercup pastels :)

  17. I actually think this color looks great with your skin tone!  But I'm the same way ... yellow is just not for me.  But I do love it on other people!

  18. Thanks, Ashley! I keep trying yellows but they always seem to look better on other people :/

  19. ohhh man!! I saw this while looking for those WnW neons but I didn't pick it up because I wasn't sure if it was the right one. This would be a good yellow to have.

  20.  I do like yellows (probably because my mother always told me that it was her favorite color on me when I was a kid) so I hope I can find a bottle of this since they're going on sale this weekend at Walgreens. Yay for $.99 polishes. :)

  21. I actually think this looks quite nice on you. It's not too warm or too cool. I think yellow is always the hardest color to get right for me.

  22. Hm I know what you mean about these yellows...I feel like something about them makes your skin look off. I don't like the way they look on me :( Maybe a different shade would do...

  23. This is one I would pass up.  Yellow and my nails are not friends.  I like how this looks on you though.

  26. Probably for most people, honestly.

  27. I personally think pastels are the safest bet for most people attempting yellow.
