Shimmer Polish Swatches and Review

I received an email last week from a lovely woman named Cindy asking if I would be interested in reviewing her polishes.  Since I have never been asked to review an indie brand and she was so genuinely enthusiastic about her product, I welcomed the opportunity to try out someone's hard work.  Plus, Cindy is one clever cookie: with my current spurt of glitter mania, her polishes reached me just in time.

The following swatches are all two coats of glitter layered with no top coat to show texture.

First up we have Vanessa over Diamond Cosmetics Concrete Jungle.  I unfortunately couldn't quite capture how unique each glitter particle is in this polish; the silvers and greys are various shades interspersed with some ruby red and black glitter.  Over Concrete Jungle, Vanessa came to life and a Christmasy feel to it, despite the fact that there isn't any green in this.

Probably my favorite of the bunch (no surprises here), we have Caroline over Brucci Sylvia's Pretty in Purple.  A maelstrom of purples, this polish shimmers from bluer toned violets to pinker toned fuchsia.  This is the glitter that would bring multiple shades of purple to life once layered.

Jasmine is definitely a close second.  Layered over Brucci Mi Papi, the aqua glitter became a glowing metallic and was almost as impossible to photograph as Vanessa.  There are some silver and orangey red flakes of glitter floating in this mixture as well which reminds me of the beach.  This was the polish I could get the best macro of; take a look at how dense this polish is in two coats!

Last up is Trisha layered over my beloved China Glaze Peachy Keen.  This was perhaps the least dynamic of the four, simply because it was more matte than the others, but not in the purposeful kind of way that Floam and the Nail Inc. Sprinkles polishes are meant to be.  I think this issue with this is the over-saturation of coppery colors in the orange base kind of overwhelms itself, dulling what could have been a really special polish.  I hoped that the bright pastel base would make this pop, but it's just not hitting it.  I recommend you click to enlarge this picture to see the red and blue glitter particles interspersed.

Final Thoughts
I must say that I am supremely impressed with these polishes.   Though I am new to the glitter world, I can still appreciate a good formula, all of which these are.  Clear based glitters typically apply gloopy and are a complete mess to even out -- I had none of those issues here!  The polish applied evenly in one stroke and required no dabbing to spread out the glitter.  I also will say that Cindy's color combos are really classy: considering she's producing high shine metallic glitter polishes, she chose colored particles that worked together to form a cohesive sheen rather than individual colors that just competed against each other on the nail.

If you are interested in purchasing these or any other Shimmer Polish, please visit Cindy's Etsy shop by clicking here.  Each bottle retails for $12 USD.
