Shimmer Polish: Swatches and Review, Part II

Since my previous post of Shimmer Polish swatches, which you can check out here, received such a warm response, I'm quite excited to be able to show you glitterati more of Cindy's shimmers sent for review!

All polishes shown are swatched without a top coat to show texture.

First up, is one coat of Linna over Zoya Wednesday.  An emerald green glitter with flecks of silver, yellow, red, and blue, Linna has the feel of a Christmas tree.  While the blue larger glitter pieces turn Linna a bit aqua in this photo, up close and in real life, this is a very true green.

Stephanie also shares the larger blue glitter pieces that Linna has, and one coat layered Sinful Colors Lavender just amps up the blurple factor of the base polish.  This polish is comprised of fine pink, purple, silver, and red glitter which offset the bigger blue particles nicely.  Definitely one of my favorites.

Cassandra, however, is my ultimate favorite of the Shimmer Polishes I've tried so far.  This is snow in a bottle, packed with white holographic and iridescent glitter.  I layered this twice over Wet n Wild French White Creme and just love how it came out.  Flat white polishes can often look chalky and blah, but with a little bit of Cassandra, this goes from white out to knock out.

Last up is Melissa layered over Essie Splash of Grenadine.  Like Splash of Grenadine, Melissa is impossible to classify: is it purple or is it pink?  The base of the glitter is a mix of microfine purple, red, and pink pieces that blur together among the larger golden glitter really making this polish sparkle.  Because it matched the Essie so perfectly, it looked somewhat matte on the nail in most of my pictures (I had the same issue with Stephanie over the SC Lavender).  But as with all Shimmer Polishes, in real life, it is a highly reflective glitter that bounces off any light.

Final Thoughts
My thoughts on this brand have not changed an iota since I first reviewed it two weeks ago.  I love how each color is blended so seamlessly that while clearly comprised of multiple colors, meld into a really cohesive, thoughtful shade.  On top of that, the formula is just perfect, although I learned from my first go around that dabbing the glitter on rather than applying in strokes works better for keeping the glitter pieces even on the nail.

My only "complaint" is that I wish there were more holo/iridescent glitters like Cassandra, since that one completely hit it out of the park for me.  Maybe in Cindy's next set of polishes, she'll incorporate a bit more of that finish into the shades (*hint*hint*).

Stay tuned for later in the week for Part III of my Shimmer Polish swatches and reviews!

  14. I'd also be biased, but Melissa is actually a really great color!  The only polish that has my name, Zoya, is a color that I absolutely hate :/
