Even though I'm currently in transit from London to Ireland, I made sure that I planned ahead a week ago for today's Twinsie Tuesday post. Even though I'm 3,000 miles away from home, I know what my priorities are!
Today's challenge was an amalgam of a number of everyone's suggestions when we were devising the TT schedule: a half moon mani using a neon and pastel polishes. While it's not as complicated a mani as it sounds, it was a pain to do.
Nail art, even using tape, befuddles me to no end. It's like I literally have two left hands. Not to mention that while I did this, I must have smudged about fifteen times, had to take off a nail, redo a nail, smudge again, rinse and repeat. Thus, this mani holds no fond memories in my heart.
Regardless, I decided to go uber girly and use pastel and neon pinks. For my base, I applied 3 coats of Wet n Wild Tickled Pink (although, because of the smudging, it probably ended up being about 24 and a half coats) and 2 coats of Billie Electric Fucshia (sic, that's how it's spelled on the bottle) from the fantastic Anne of Grape Fizz Nails.

Let's ignore the fact that this looks more like a half mani rather than a half moon. The lines are sorta smooth so I'll take what I can get. My fatal flaw is that I have absolutely no patience and after my smudge-fest, didn't have the mind to wait to put the Billie part on. On a positive note, I do like this color combination a lot :)

ReplyDeleteBeautiful combo! PS: I miss you!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThese colors look fabulous together <3
ReplyDeleteI love these colors together!
ReplyDeleteI love the two pinks together! And I think I almost like this half-mani better than the standard half-moon. I'm a fan of straight lines over curves. :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job!
ReplyDeleteWe really are twins today! Yours looks great!
ReplyDeleteLove these two!
ReplyDeleteI looove this color combination! It's so lovely!
ReplyDeleteAw love your half mani/moon! hehe. I hope you're enjoying your time there!! :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love that we did each other's favorite color.
ReplyDeleteMiss you too, lady!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Ash!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenna!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Neon and pastel pinks are fairly non offensive together in theory so I figured I'd give it a shot here.
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks ;). Who knows, my poor excuse for nail art may take off!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Meredith!
ReplyDeleteHow cool is that?! That Billie is the perfect neon pink! Thank you again for my gorgeous new Canadian addition :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteI was going for spring and summery and I think it worked!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I finally have more sustained wifi for the moment so I'm happy to be able to respond to all you girls :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! Yours was GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteLove that fucshia (heh, that's exactly how a friend of mine always pronounces it), and I'm surprised by how lovely it actually looks with the pastel pink! I'm still working on tape manis, but it seems to go *so* much easier if I lay down a quick-dry top coat before going on to the tape. And hey, just saw you're back home again now--hope you had a great trip!
ReplyDeleteAfter all the polishing and smudging, I just couldn't even deal with the quick dry top coat. I knew that I would just be wasting another layer. I'll have to try the trick out when I'm having a better polish day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteWhile it's not the typical half moon, I really like it! I love your color choices too.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks :)
