Sally Hansen for Tracy Reese in Parrot

Typically, I post my swatches in order of how I wear and upload them.  However, for the past few weeks, any time my boyfriend sees a green polish on me, around me, or nearby, he invariably says, "that's the one I got you, right?"  Since he doesn't get the nuance of polish colors, I told him that I would post Parrot today so that I could reference it whenever he asked on my phone.

The story behind me getting this bright grass green was that my boyfriend, who I had asked to pick me up some bubble wrap while out at Home Depot, surprised me by buying a polish on the way back and stuffed it in the middle of the bubble wrap roll.  Being as bright as it is, I noticed it immediately and pulled it out and put in on immediately.  It really was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture.

Parrot, one of the Sally Hansen for Tracy Reese designer collaboration polishes for Spring 2012, is not a classic "me" color.  While I'm getting more and more into greens, I tend to steer clear of the yellow-y ones.  But my boyfriend loves bright reds and greens, so I'm not surprised he veered straight towards this bright, vibrant hue.

Like all my beloved CSMs, this applied smoothly and opaquely in 3 coats (for some reason, I find CSMs always look best with three).

My two largest concerns about this polish actually proved to be unfounded: on the nail, the yellow undertone mostly disappeared, and more importantly, no lobster hands!  I received so many compliments on this polish from girls in my office and in fact, the next week I noticed one of my co-workers got a manicure with a similar green polish as well.  I always questioned the boy's taste in colors, but I think he proved me wrong this time.

Thankfully, he doesn't read this blog :)

What do you ladies think of this green?

  7. Yes! This is a super pretty green! My SIL bought me a Nicole OPI (can't remember the name right now) and it's very bright and once it was on I looooved it! I wouldn't normally gravitate to that color, but sometimes it's a nice surprise when someone picks it for you.

  9. I totally agree!  It really broadens your color range because like you said, we'd never have chosen these colors for ourselves.  Always a nice change to branch out a bit...even if it's semi-forced :)

  17. I have to admit, I think it is kinda funny that people think green gives them lobster hands, because in cosmetics, green is what you use to tone down redness! :)
