Pure Ice Twinkle

Since I'm a little all over the place these days and feel awful for not posting as regularly as I like, I figured a short post is better than no post, right?  So here's my quickie:

While I love me some Pure Ice polishes, I think this one kinda let me down.  In the bottle, Twinkle is a peachy orange creme that looks alight with golden shimmer.  While my swatch makes this look fairly shimmer infused, in real life the gold just washed out the color instead of brightening it up.  Despite how vibrant this photographed, the base color was not quite this bright on the nail.  On my skin tone, this just came off almost like a nude with a slight sunburn.

This is three very thin coats that just didn't build up well.  Typically I find that Pure Ice polishes are highly pigmented and are good to go in two perfect coats.  I don't know if I just have a funky bottle, but this is not my normal Pure Ice love fest.

Do any of you have this color?  Did you have the same issue?

  3. I think this is a cute, pretty shade! I think it's nice for summer. I don't have it, so I can't comment on the formula issue, but it sucks when polishes disappoint.

  4. I think I might actually search for this. I like the color and to bring out the subtle gold shimmer, I'd layer a gold glitter or flakie over.

  5. I don't. I will admit I love it in the bottle, but it did not translate as well on to your nail :( I mean the shade looks nice on you and all, but I'd be hoping for what the bottle shade is. Frustrating!

  6. Wow. I was excited to see the color until I read it. Too bad.

  7. Oh no :/ I typically like Pure Ice too. This color is pretty. Sucks that the gold takes away from it

  8. It's nicer in the bottle and in those pictures, trust me. There are nicer oranges for summer.

  9. That's a good idea. Or even to layer this over a brighter orange, it might bring out the gold without washing out the color.

  10. I did too. Sadly, it did not deliver.

  11. Doesn't take away from my general love of Pure Ice. I'm hoping I just got a sucky bottle.

  12. It's very pretty as pictured, but comparing it to the bottle, I'd want to see more of the shimmer too, especially if it's not as bright as it seems like it should be.

  16. Lovely colour though the formula on this sounds like a right pain

  17. I like it this color too. Very pretty. It looks more Spring than Summer in the picture.I can still wear it this season. Then there is the laying option to make it more summery. I can layer this color like a previous poster said. I only have a few Pure Ice shades but really want more.

  18. That's too bad that you didn't love Twinkle. Your pic makes it look lovely!!

  19. Sorry you didn't like it so much...I'm not to fond of orangey corally polishes, so doubt I would have even glanced twice at it, although the pictures do make it look interesting. I have to say it drives me crazy when the pictures just won't show the true polish...I have that trouble all the time.

  20. I typically have the opposite problem: where the pictures don't showcase how lovely the polish actually is.  This was a weird situation for me :/

  21. That's too bad that it doesn't show up as pretty in person as it does in the picture!
