Twinsie Tuesday: Tape Mani

Okay ladies, this isn't gonna be pretty.

Today's Twinsie Tuesday challenge was to do a tape mani.  Now we all know that I don't do nail art.  Tape manis are like the karate white belts of the nail art world: you need to pass this stage to move on to things like French manicures and painting mini depictions of Noah's Ark  and the entire book of Genesis on your nails.  Interesting but not really my thing.

But I took on the challenge like any good Twinsie would.  Well, ish.  I really, really didn't want to do this and tried to figure out a clever way to "cheat" through this challenge.  Clearly I'm not that clever.  So instead, I pulled out a random color -- in this case Isadora Combat Khaki -- and started cutting tape.

After about twenty minutes of trying to get the tape to not stick on my fingers and then to stick on my nail, I realized I created and absolute mess and was covered in green polish.  I tried to do the whole tape over thing and then polish with Zoya Adel (sort of my own take of a green peppermint swirl) but instead I just got this.

It looks like it's melting.  My polish actually looks like it's melting off my fingers.  I'd shake my head but I seriously didn't expect much better from myself.

Oh well.

  8. You are too hard on yourself, Amanda.  You should be proud of yourself for jumping in and trying something outside your comfort zone.  Valiant effort!

  19. I'd say you're welcome but I didn't suggest this challenge...I don't remember who did but I have a feeling it was either Marisa or Nory.  We can collective blame them ;)

  22. Hahaha, Noah's Ark. Your whole post made me giggle :-)

I think - and I suspect, I am not the only one saying this! - that you are too hard on yourself! I think it looks really cute. I am still trying to get the hang of tape mani's, but I really like how it is sorta airbrushy/blendy/awesomey! You just may be starting a new trend, lady! :-)

  23. I laughed out loud at "awesomey." I really hope, though, that this doesn't become a trend since I haven't the foggiest how I actually created the airbrushy/blendy look.

  24. I know the feeling! Tape manis and I don't mix! It doesn't look bad though, I like the colors you chose!

  25. Thanks, Meredith! This green actually reminds me of something you'd wear :)

  26. I think this looks cute. I love the idea of peppermint swirl.

Tape manis aren't my thing either. I skipped that level and went straight to trying to do other nail art but I won't be making Noah's Ark on my nails either.

  27. I actually love your dotticures! You always choose the loveliest colors for those :)

  28. I can't do tape manis either!  I think this looks great!  I should have stuck to a simple mani!  I love the color combo!

  30. Hahahaha "the karate white belt of nail art."  Yours turned out cute though  and I love the peppermint swirl inspiration. I am right there with you in the white belt class though, girl. Us newbies gotta stick together haha.

  31. I agree with all of the comments below - you are being too hard on yourself! I really like the way this came out! The color combination is really pretty.
On a side note, I was also trying to come up with ways to 'cheat' on this one! lol  :)

  33. Love the word "awesomey."  But I hope my "airbrushy/blendy" thing doesn't take off because I couldn't replicate this if you paid me.  No clue how this happened :/

  34. I love your dotticures!  The colors you choose are always so pretty!
