Pure Ice Jamaica Me Crazy

Ugh, I hate that being sick for two weeks has ruined my posting schedule.  I've always been pretty good about scheduling my posts at least four days in advance but I've been so completely wiped, I haven't even been able to comment on all my girlies' blogs (don't worry, that's on my agenda for today).  I hope this pretty swatch makes up for the fact that I deserted you yesterday!

Jamaica Me Crazy was the stunning electric fuchsia I used in my Pure Ice Hunger Games skittles last week.  Without missing a beat, I swatched Jamaica Me Crazy immediately after removing the skittle mani.  I have really come to appreciate polish with electric blue shimmer and love this idea for summer.  In Jamaica's case, the electric blue is so present, it actually makes the polish duochrome.  I'm not the biggest fan of duochromes (they're nice, but never on my favorites list), but when it's electric, I become smitten.  I blame the fact that I was born in the late eighties and watched way too much Saved by the Bell to explain for this subconscious draw to electric colors.

The application was lovely.  Pure Ice brushes are on the smaller side, but really aid in precise application.  The color was opaque in two coats, although this swatch is three coats only because I smudged while getting my camera to photograph these.

I love the bottle shot in the bottom photo because it really draws attention to the blue duochrome.  Amazing, right?  I love the fuchsia and blue color combo and  think it works well with my blue-based pale skin tone.

My only complaint is that Essie also has a polish called Jamaica Me Crazy that is a similar color, although does not have the electric blue duochrome factor.  I feel that as Pure Ice gets more popular, these issues will create problems for us ladies in the polish world.  If only all problems were this serious.

So what do you ladies think of this duochrome?  Does it also remind you of something reminiscent of the '80s or am alone in that boat of craziness?

  10. Reminds me of OPI's Pompeii Purple layered over Flashbulb Fuchsia - one I do a lot. Both have the fuchsia with the blue flash. This is my kind of color.

  11. You really need to get some of these!  For $1.97, it's totally worth it!  And the formula is great!

  12. Aw, thanks!  I love how Pure Ice and Sinful Colors are two drugstore brands that don't sacrifice quality despite the price.

  13. Hmmm...I'll have to Google image those colors.  But that's awesome that you were able to create this color by layering!
